you're right Bdsankey, when I talked to Andrew from wagler about this he said these belt tensioners were being specifically designed for the guys turning some rpm with duel fuelers. So if they say they don't have one for an lb7 yet I'm going to wait til they do. i'm sure they know that the gm part number from 02-10 is the same but they've tested and figured out why it doesn't work on 02-04 lb7's rather that being geometry, etc.

Finally installed the wagler belt tensioner for the lb7.... no more belts getting shredded

Have you stress-run the truck WOT upwards of 3500+rpm after the install to see if it really does help solve the belt throwing?

Yes.. and no issues what so ever anymore....

I spoke To soon.... I was Messing around with boosted launches and now that my motor is broken in I decided To see what my truck would do with a boosted launch with the wagler tensioner installed and belt still slipped off.... not sure what else I can Do to keep the stupid belt from coming off

Have you checked the pulley alignment? On the gas side we see this on trucks with blowers. usually comes down to a misalignment issue

I haven't had any belt shift since getting their tensioner. I'm not saying their tensioner is the "be-all-end-all", but some form of rigid tensioner is what these trucks need with RPM and dual pumps. The factory tensioner doesn't seem to have enough force.

I know Duramaxzak has made his own version of a manual tensioner using some off the shelf parts that seems to be working well for him (LB7). The info is posted in his build thread (LINK).

How much tension are you putting on that belt.

The longer the belt, the more it stretches. Manual tensioners are ok if you know how tight the belt has to get after it’s hot and stretched some.

Spring tensioners take that guess out. Problem is getting a heavy enough spring or enough arm throw

It's so crazy that I have never had a single issue with belts coming off. I've had a PPE dual fueler kit for probably 50k miles of constant beating lol. Even has a 10mil for the top pump

Knock on wood I haven't had any issues either with a factory tensioner even running a 12mm pump on the belt. It's hit almost 6500rpm more than once (never on purpose) and still never came off. Used the same standard belt for 5 years. This is a 2001 LB7 using ppe dual fueller kit. Hope I don't have issues now after saying something lol.

your lucky hhahah my belt comes off anytime I go above 4500rpm even with the wagler belt tensioner..

We’ve found the Dayco tensioner works good. It has a metal pulley with shoulders on both sides. Multiple years of 5k+, zero belt issues to date.
