wagler mechanical belt tensioner

Wondering if anyone knows why the Wagler mechanical belt tensioner won't work for an LB7 but an oem one will for for 02-10 model year duramax engines..?

Anyone know if there's any other companies making one? tired of belts getting shredded.

I actually talked to Wagler last week about a belt problem and they told me they are currently in the process of having a tensioner finished for the lb7’s soon

my only thought would be that the idler pulleys are in a different location on LB7 so the tensioner may interfere with the LB7 idlers or may not have enough throw.

I spoke With Austin a while ago when they first released them and he said they would have them for the lb7s shortly after the new year but ya..... still waiting Hahahah (hate waiting).....

Good point here. I’m also curious if what they come up with will work on 01 lb7 since they have the unique tensioner.

I can't comment on their LB7 tensioner but I definitely love my LLY tensioner. My belt hasn't moved since I put it on, before that I was fighting where the belt would shift one rib on my dual fueler setup after a hard 4000rpm+ rip.

Be prepared to be disappointed unless you plan on fabricating. I'm sure there's a legit reason why they state it wont work.

i dont see why you cant just ask andrew or someone at wagler WHY it wont work. Austin has always been real forth coming with me on part questions before i order stuff

yes the one they have out is for lly,lbz, lmm

I was thinking of using an lly alternator bracket and if the idle puller is in a different spot i think routing the belt differently.

Be aware that you either need to mod the bracket to accept the LB7 CCV or you have to remake your CCV. I do not know if the LLY bracketry is a different offset than LB7 but that would be another thing to check to make sure the belt runs true.

You need to get a 02 or later alternator bracket and change two idler pulleys. I went through this when I put dual fuelers on my 01. It was a easy swap, then you can use the 02 up tensioners. I used a ATS dual fueler kit for a 01 and it came with the bracket at pulleys. Look up the kit and you will see what you need

I ordered one last night. . Pricey but if it works and keeps the belt from jumping ribs and keeps it on it will be worth it .

I haven't had any belt shift since getting their tensioner. I'm not saying their tensioner is the "be-all-end-all", but some form of rigid tensioner is what these trucks need with RPM and dual pumps. The factory tensioner doesn't seem to have enough force.

I know Duramaxzak has made his own version of a manual tensioner using some off the shelf parts that seems to be working well for him (LB7). The info is posted in his build thread (LINK).

I know the feeling. My comment about making your own was pointed at the LB7 guys due to availability from Wagler.
