Let me rephrase. I have no desire to do it tonight lol Yeah no my truck has never and will never be any sort of shop except alignment and inspection. I'll see when I get off tonight what's going on. Might just tackle it tonight. Not sure if they checked anything else. It's an alignment only shop. I do have brand new HD tie rods

because they are on hand :D. i also know they use a teflon coating inside to encompass the ball and keep wear to a min when grease is not present or has thinned out. Mood problem solvers are hit and miss. they use to be the good stuff, now some are junk.

If you want to hit the beach tomorrow, go pick one of these up and throw it in

https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NCZ2601526?searchCategory=7.2&searchIndex=App

looks like they now use a circlip to keep the joint from popping out of the arm like they use to. in that case, i wouldnt even buy a new arm if the bushings are still good in your old arm.

is your other side showing movement as well or is it tight? jsut cause one is bad does not mean both are. im still on a stock original LCA ball joint with 213k, other side died at 190k.
That is good information about the moog ball joints.

FYI. Do not get ac Delco uca's or uca ball joints. They have a design that makes the ball joint stud hit the housing at full drop out. Destroying the dust cover boot and knocking/breaking off the beauty ring that holds the dust cover boot. Also the uca will not rest on the metal frame stop at full drop out. The stud hits the ball joint housing preventing the uca from resting on the metal frame stop.

The Napa ones look like a very close design to the acdelco ones.

Here are the ones I bought and a month later switched to moog problem solver uca's.

ACDelco 45D1083 Professional Front Upper Suspension Control Arm and Ball Joint Assembly https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NSLAIU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_V0tvzb7EA39K2

And here is the acdelco ball joints.

ACDelco 45D0104 Professional Front Upper Suspension Ball Joint Assembly https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C9M430/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_61tvzbMNWMEG3

James,
If I reuse the uca's and replace the ball joint and it comes with the circle clip to keep it from popping out of the arm do you still need to tack weld the ball joint to the arm?

alignment shops have to check the suspension and steering over before doing the alignment or it was all for not. some places will stop soon as they find a worn part instead of checking the rest of the truck over for other worn parts.

nope, should be good to go as it is then captured from both sides of the arm.

Just picked up a Napa ball joint. $28 out the door and has the clip to hold it in the bottom as well. To the house to get it done.

Thanks guys for all your help getting back with me so quick. I got crazy anxious over that.

Well I got it done. Took an hour because the dang snap ring was a BEAST and the cheap pliers we had wouldn't work. But all in all not a bad job at all. The old ball joint was one of the worst I've seen lol

Bumping this back up to see if anything changed in all your recommendations.

Would using the ACDelco arms or the blue balljoints with my existing arms be the best way to go?

Finally sold the set of Blizzak winter tires from Roni's Traverse, so Ive got the money to rebuild my truck's front end.

if you buy AC delco, buy "ACDeloc OEM", not the professional series. the pro ones are cheap ones. i still like the NAPA NCP part number ones but i do that due to warranty :D

I end up using the moog problem solver uca's. Do not use the AC Delco professional uca's.

Agreed. The ac delco professional uca's suck.

Looks like the NAPA NCP 2605240 that James likes (for $125/pc) are the same as the Mevotech CMS20360 (for $59/pc). Same pics. Looks like the same ball joint.

Interesting.

You might want to also look rock auto.
The moog problem solver uca's I have life time warranty. The price is good also. They also have mevotech the last time I looked.

I use the Moog problem solvers from Advanced Auto, and walk in with the old ones when they need replaced. Give them my phone number then walk right out with new stuff in hand. NAPA’s quality has went down the drain. No one likes replacing stuff right out of the box or shortly after. Even if your labor is free it’s not worth the hassle.
