Are you referring to the FPRV? I think the early trucks had a banjo bolt instead of what we have on our lbzs... You got a link to RLD's test? An injector would be better than a Cp3 like you said, I've been saving for a injection pump because I couldn't think of anything else it could be
I think Dura-RAtion was referring to the FPRV, not sure...
I have a link. But's it's pretty simple to do...

To test your injector return rates, get you the following:
24-32' of 5/32" vacuum line (3-4' per injector)
7 5/32" vacuum caps(1/8" will work as well)
8 graduated beakers with lids or like I had to do, I just bought 8 plastic containers and drilled holes for tubing in the top of the lid, and bought a seperate measuring device.(couldn't find any graduated beakers.)

Remove return fuel lines, place hose on fittings, one per each injector and cap off the ones that are "T"s. Run each of these hoses into a seperate container, make sure it's above the injectors, in relation to height.
Don't forget to cap off the return port at back of driver's side (above FPRV) and the line coming from return behind alternator to cylinder #1.

Unplug FICM connectors, crank until fuel enters your cylinders, approx. 15 sec. and measure. 6mL is max, anything above and you should replace that cylinder's injector.

Hmm I should probably look at doing this before anything else.. Thanks for the info bud

On edit: this looks like something I may screw up because I'm new to efi live. Can the dealer any type of this test? Anyone know what kind of price would be on a job like this? If I took it to them I'd probably need to return my truck to the stock O.S.?

not a prob, I only spent $40, compared to GM's $166 test, and I found a leaky injector.

gotta give credit where credit is due though....Rick Lance and Will Taylor from DmaxCentral are the originators.

Ahh see that $166 now. Hmm How do I command the rail pressure to climb during testing with live?

under the scan tool. You can click on the DVT tab, and then click on Controls, over to the right there is a tab where you can enter or slide for the commanded psi you're seeking.

Make sure it's "enabled" too.

but as far as testing for return flow, I don't think this is what you want to do.
I would assume, though by using the DVT function and if you LOG you're actual and desired pressures, if you see any difference between the two it doesn't tell you much.

BUT, if you command high pressure and the actual keeps up....this would lead to injectors.

I thought I needed to do this in the test? Maybe not. If not would I just hook up the lines and disable the FCIM and crank it over for 15 then measure the cups?

No this is not for the test. DVT function is for a different "test".
Yes, disconnect, crank and measure.
I replied to your posts over there.

Gonna take it to the dealer tomorrow probably for the test. I made a run today to see what kind of pressure I hold... To my suprise the lowest I saw was about 22 on the Stealth 2, but I still got the 87 code. I really don't know what to think now, I figured It would be wayy lower than that, maybe I have I'm just crazy and don't have a fuel problem boost only hit 27 though still.

Good deal, hope you figure it out.

Was your commanded much higher than 22 when you logged it? Have you done a bottle test?new filter?

I hope you get it, make sure and ask for the results from the test and let us know.

Bottle test came up clean, I'm pretty sure the highest it commanded was 29k, but the desired was around 26 when it was at its lowest actual pressure. I shoulda logged it but owell I was just off driving around and the S2 is still in the truck so tested it out. The fuel filter is was changed about 20k ago, Will get that changed this coming oil change

Have you changed that injector yet Jeromy? It sounds like you may have found your problem. I kinda figured you might have something like that going on.

not yet. should soon though.
Yea that one injector, which was actually #5 had returned 8ml, compared to 0 for the others, huge variance.
I think I found the problem too.:thumb:

I'm sorry I messed up on typing that, it was a Miller night... The highest it commanded was 29k.
The lowest actual was 21-22K and that was while it desired 26k I believe, like I said I didn't actually data log it but rather glancing at the Stealth 2 thought so I could be off.

Anyhow the low rail pressure code popped up at about 100 mph as always.

Thats when mine usually pops, 80-100 MPH after letting off.

Still gotta try the race valve. CP3 is strong /ok.

I can get you a PPE race valve...try it out for a week or two, see if it fixes your problem. If not I'll personally buy it back from ya.
But then again, if you're taking it to the dealer, see what they say...they may find your problem elsewhere.
