Maybe the injection which I think mine is going out because I never could control my foot, and ran it dry ALOT... I'm hoping EFI Live can solve my problem, I'm really hoping that my problem was just having a bad stack asking for too much pulsewidth or timing. Only time will tell I guess

took head out of fuel tank. dirt and water in bottom of tank:(
One of the stainless bars of the head unit has broken loose from plastic., missing a spring too. What is the purpose of the bars on these springs? I don't think this would have anything to do with it.... pics to come. 5/8 hose and pickup look fine, no kinks or cuts.

Mind sharing your problems? I'm thinking an airdog is the ticket as well, but I'd feel more comfortable "knowing". I'm going to have to get a new gauge installed to make sure mine isn't reading faulty.

I hate to install an airdog, then tear the tank out to check the hose/pickup, then replace the filter head, then this, then that, only to find a bad cp3, ya know.:)

I pop the 0087 code at about the 1/8th mile at the track and on the street roughly bout 100 MPH.

I shimmed my FPRV but still getting it, need to get a gauge and verify Lift pump PSI and also Bottle test again .

Im thinking from opinions i might need the race valve and maybe my pumps arent up to snuff, if that all checks out i could have a weak CP3, Tests will tell,

Been raining lots here and i dont want to test my truck on wet pavement:baby:

well I bought another gauge and it actually reads a little higher, 6-7psi. I checked every fuel line connection, all is fine. Checked the fprv it's tight like always(which reminds me....I could have sworn that booger was an 18mm). I am losing prime pretty quickly though, maybe the filter head, with engine off or on. Did a balance rate check, and a DVT fuel pressure test. Regardless of what I commanded in mpa, the log showed significantly smaller.

Im going to try a race valve. Dustin Logged my truck and Cp3 is fine.

My FPRV pops 0087 after i let out of it now for some reason, so im going to try a race valve.

Air

Try putting 3-5psi air on the fuel system with a gauge in line and shut off the air. Watch the gauge. If it drops any pressure, you have a leak. Even drops a little it'll be enough to do what your truck is doing.

would this not be the same as pumping filter head with gauge in line?

I suppose it would, but that won't test the return side of the system.
reason I was asking is because with a gauge installed atop the filter head, and pumps on it holds 5-6 psi.
If I turn key off and pump primer button, sometimes only once or half a pump, i watch the gauge hit the psi, and bleed off back to 0.

I'm currently rigging something similiar to Rick Lance's injector return flow testing setup, see if I can do this correct.

Well, I've rigged something up similiar to Rick Lance's setup to test return rates. I bought 5/32" vacuum tubing and caps for the injector return lines and some cylinders and a way to measure the returned fuel. With cranking only 15 seconds, I got fuel in only one cylinder and close to 5 or 6ml, have to retest.
I guess a bad injector would be better than a weak cp3.
I don't know where else to look, already took off tank and cleaned it up...i did forget to check pickup hose though! DOH!

I suspect a leaking Banjo fitting.
around the FICM?
washers are there, can't see a visible leak with soapy water

Return rate test came out, #5 is returning 8ml fuel, compared to 0ml on all the others. And that was a 12 sec. crank time, just imagine what this thing is returning while driving and flogging it, keeping it from holding pressure. At least I hope I've found the problem.

I had a simular problem like this and it was on the return side. Passenger side banjo fitting where it is bolted to the head. just behind the Ficm. And there is another on drivers side rear. Just behind the glow plug controller.

:hmm: I'm lost. I don't know of these banjo fittings.

BTW the only way that I found the leaks was by using a vacuum pump that i connected to the return line by the fuel tank. It drove me crazy. Almost.

Rear drivers side head, way in the back, you can barely see it. you may have to feel for it, but it there. Thats how it is on mine. Maybe they changed it on the LLy.

Are you referring to the FPRV? I think the early trucks had a banjo bolt instead of what we have on our lbzs... You got a link to RLD's test? An injector would be better than a Cp3 like you said, I've been saving for a injection pump because I couldn't think of anything else it could be
