That bent up driveshaft never touched the ground. Was supported by the carrier bearing in back and frame rail in front. I unbolted carrier bearing to remove it. I have orange marks in the crease of the drive shaft and the brick fits almost perfect. Orange dust on body right above where shaft was bent.
But I guess joints could have broke first but I doubt it

Dealer hasn't touched it yet. I cried a bit and they did offer me another truck to drive but wouldn't do me much good.
Progressive must have changed their estimate as they dropped of a check for $5200 ($6200 in damages minus my $1000 deductible on comp).
Service manager said that doesn't matter as they will be coming up with their own estimate.
Thanks again MikeL + Henry. Passed on the info to service manager and he said yup trans is coming out to do the tail shaft.
So, here's what I'm thinking: they will pull my trans pan and rear end cover looking for other debris/damage.

If they don't find any other damage in trans, they have to pull it out and reinstall it so I'm going to bring them the trans I have in garage. I bought it from Jpowell a year or 2 back, a 2007 2wd trans with under 20k on it. Just can't see putting my 328k trans back in when I have one with 20k collecting dust.

Yes, id put that 'fresh' trans in for sure. Then in dew time build the orginial one. Can you see the light at the end of your tunnel?

Not yet. Let's get it on the lift and pans off trans and rear and get the dealers estimate done. Get some progress going. Just collecting dust right now.

I've got a verbal 'I'm interested' offer from someone wanting to buy the original trans if its not needed for a core. Probably do that. How do you ship a trans? Strap it to a pallett?

Dealer has had it for 5 weeks today. Guess they like it. Asked them if it would be done by labor day weekend. They wouldn't say yes. :(

Apparently these guys don't want to get anymore of your service work or new vehicle sales. Hope they come through and you have it for the weekend, you've certainly waited long enough.

Yup. If the steering wheel isn't done by Fri, i'll take it somewhere else.

And the wife has decided to take her new car purchase elsewhere too.

Well still good to see it back on the road.

Are you going to make a few runs with it before you put all the stuff from the van in it?

That's the plan. maybe run it thru winter while my regular work is slow. I've got both a contractors type aluminum cap and a fiberglass cap bought and am making a little mock up of the equipment in the van to make sure it'll all fit on the truck. If I switch it over I'm losing a couple feet so want to make sure it'll fit before I start the swap. Sure will be a sweet work truck if it works out.
