Got under the truck to get it in park and make sure it would start. Noticed orange dust above where the front driveshaft was bent. And there's orange marks on shaft. I think I hit a brick. There was a busted in half brick within feet of where we found the rear driveshaft
That sucks. Might want to tell that to the insurance company, it might help.

Yea, a stupid $0.99 brick.

Friday they said an adjuster would call first of the week. I called at 4pm and got voice mail. Left a msg crying about out of work, a trailer sitting in the driveway that was supposed to be in Quebec last week, etc

Glad its a side job...

Progressive Commercial - anyone got Flo's #?

Flo showed up today

Talk about lowballing it

For the dents in exhaust, they said they would order 4inch pipe and have it bent. I said noone around here will be able to bend it. Oh no, chevy garage can do it. I said nope. Sure enough they said 'I called 4 shops and noone can bend 4inch pipe'

So here's what they think they're gonna do: cut out the 2 dents in the exhaust and weld patches over the holes!!!!!!!!!! WTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have body labor rate priced at $46 an hour?!?!?!

And (thanks again mike L) Progressive thinks the tail housing can be replaced without taking the trans out. I talked to chevy garage about it and told them what you said MikeL, service manager said he really didn't know what to say because they've never seen one busted open, and would have to fix it how the gm service books say to. So let's hope its in the book to pull it out

I'm out of whiskey :(

Dang, that sucks. Don't back down with Progressive, just keep telling them what they NEED to pay for.
I had a similar claim with them and they tried everything possible to get out of it, but I didn't back down, and in the end, they paid for everything. Took a bit of work, though...

Isn't it nice how we pay out the ass for insurance so they can "patch" our stuff back together?

Try pricing a commercial road-trip type policy. Just lowered all coverages I could since truck won't be driven for a while and its still higher than we pay on the wifes jetta and the van

You shouldnt have to fight a company that we pay for to cover us in the event of an accident Pisses me off,had a girl hit me that was uninsured and that kicked in my uninsured underinsured coverage....you would think i had double and tripple coverage rite? NOPE! turns your insurance into their insureance. My insurance found me 25% at fault which made me pay for 25% of damages:angry5: Now i know why my company is self insured.

Thanks you very much Henry! Service manager couldn't find it yet.
So the 'housing facing down', means just like Mike L said, trans needs to be out of truck to do it?

And the title says 'off vehicle'

I'm assuming ins man is going to have to ok pulling the trans

You sure the brick hit the driveshaft? Seems unlikely the brick could have hit the driveshaft and caused that much damage. It seems more likely the u-joint let go and the driveshaft hit the brick on the ground.

Yea, a stupid $0.99 brick.
