so I'll just weld a couple restraining bolts to restrict the lateral expansion.

I can't find a good picture, but the charge air cooler tubes on a Cummins QSK19 use two pieces of flat stock at tube connections. There is a bung welded onto the pipe, and the flat stock bolted to one side, and a slotted hole on the other end of the flat stock to allow expansion/contraction. Without it, the rubber hose connections would fail pretty much every time under the heat/pressure of the charged air.

If you find a pic please post it. The only examples I found were just regular boots and clamps. But I get the principle to remove stress off the rubber boot.

Thought about going with Vibrant style clamps or V-Band everywhere? Would allow some movement and probably be the easiest to repair on the water (carry some spare o-rings/sleeves vs boots/clamps). They also leave the end user no worry about "did I tighten that clamp enough?"

If vibrant didn't cnc their name into the clamps, I'd be more inclined to use them. However I have video of one exploding at only 50psi on my buddies boat couple years back. So no warm and fuzzy feeling about using those clamps. But I see them used in much higher boost situations all the time.

Bullseye cutting new SS threaded adapters this week, so gonna give this bellows setup a try I guess.

Yesterday we checked all the underwater hardware for leaks before the exhaust pipe go on and block the access.

Constant pressure spring clamps. Use them on first build, no issues. Boots is another subject.

Biggest issue is no flexable material to bridge the gap can withstand a sustained operating temperature above 275 F. Alum tube and v-band first choice, doesn't do well with being stretched repeatedly. So options are getting few...

Will those be cycle tested when the key/ignition is turned on? Would hate for corrosion to get between the steel shaft and aluminum, freezing it up in the even you need them

2x ^^^ should cycle them every time the engine is started/stopped

VW uses them, besides for egr purpose, to ease engine shut down. It lessens the shaking when you turn the engine off because the engine is not pumping much air. Maybe you can wire them up similar so they close just before or at the cutting of fuel.

Doesn't our Duramax have one for egr back pressure? Could you just keep that part of the table active and set the parameters as desired?

I stole the bearings and seals outa the TB. Shaft clearance not an issue now either. If theses corode or stick, ya got bigger issues.

Cycling them not an issue, but someone's gonna have to walk between engines and reset them every time.

They will be spring loaded with a 12v latching triggger. Something like these.

Fire dampers that we have on our AC ducts have a small motor with a gearbox and a spring to shut them. Motor with power opens them and when you cut power the spring closes them.

Is your idea to apply power to pull up on the latch to allow them to close? If so what would happen with a burned wire or loose connection? Would the system not work? Failsafe should be in the closed position. Or am I missing something?

Ya hit the button beside it that says Oh-F... Co2 bath.

Without running a cable there is no 99% failsafe. However electrical latch release is industrial standard on oil gas equipment. So I'm good with it for now.

Update on those aluminum injector return tee fittings I installed a couple pages back.

Discovered a critical design flaw this week. Turns out those are a pressed two piece design, with Oring between. So if you twist, pull on em, or use in a heavy vibration setting, they could easily pop apart.

I was however able to score some one piece stainless steel replacements. See comparison below. The SS version has two barbs per hose also..
