My understanding is it could be difficult to anodize cast aluminum, as Jon mentioned the high silicone content, doesn't anodize at all

Possiblity a great Idea if it could be done

Thats pretty good info right there. I did notice that it seems that they only do it to their forged pistons and not cast. I would fathom that if anyone knows it would be them

After I sold the little boat, I bought a big cat with full intentions doing this build. Then I realized I sure the hell couldn't afford it. So I sold that boat, a month later I get a call from some crazy dude in Australia, who says no one over here we'll attempt this build for me.. think I should have considered that statement a little harder.. lol

But in the infamous words of Jerry Reed I replied, we're gonna to do what they say can't be done...

I brought second engine home Danville last night. Will pop the head off tomorrow and compare the innards.. Then I'll make the call on which way we go forward. Leaning hard towards cleaning polishing the piston tops, since there looks to be a few scuffs in cylinder walls that don't match up with ring gaps.

Also got see the latest stand along Bosch ECU and harness in action on Marks little Duramax yesterday. Nice piece of hardware for controlling big power. :woott:

Ok time for a little something new.

Broke out one the NLX turbos today to try and see how, and where I'm gonna mount these puppies. Gonna have to be tight to the Banks intake, and low as possible to clear some boat restrictions.

Also need to finalize the positive air shutoff placement. Just happen to have a new LS throttle body setting on the bench, which got me thinking. What if I modify one to fit between the turbo outlet and main intake. Maybe spring loaded with solenoid actuator design.

Comments?

How much of that ceramic coating do you think you flushed down the toilet and how much from cleaning it:roflmao:

Almost ready to pull pistons on first engine. So decided to mark all scuffs on cyl walls to position on pistons. Then can inspect the rings and skirts for matching debris fields.

Another interesting find. Piston in Cyl 8 [second pic] shows least pitting, and least wall scuffing overall. However, where there is one wide scuff, it starts above the top ring.

Be interesting to see that once out, won't it...
