Hey James. I have a few questions on my future build and turbo sizing, all seeming to be around the sizes you’re looking at. If you get some free time and can PM me that’d be great. No rush at all.

WTB twin kit/turbo/s

Your not far off on my thinking Zak :D

I’m going over 1000rwhp (ideally 1200) and on 100 overs, I’m gunna need a lot of air. 88 primary may be too small but I’d like to see where it and a 68-69mm in the valley take it. I’m a little afraid a drop in 68 ihi on stock cartridge is a recipe for snapped shafts but I’ve got a few calls in for opinions. I figure if I can get the stock size ihi on the 83 to around 900ish or more, the 88 and 68/69 ought to get my goal without overdriving the hell out of them

I've have one of those although it's not from Lincoln i'm 98% sure it's the same person putting those together it's a 68/76 turbine and 67.7/100 compressor so 68 inducer or close to that don't remember exactly for sure. It's been used with a 475 and a billet wheeled 480 both with 1.32 exh housings and i'm not happy with the drive-ability. Runs good up high but below 2-2.2k off boost not so good, it has low boost towing/cruising below those areas to. Just got a 1.15 housing for the 480 but haven't put it on yet. I'm at 5500+ft and use my truck for heavy tow also. If the 1.15 housing does not help much that valley 68 is going down the road and a 300 series borg will replace it.

A 363 or 364.5 and a 475 or 480 is what we will be trying on my LML after playing with the stock/475 setup.

i'm running 475/stock for now and looking for an option to replace stock but not the 475 for now

I doubt an 88 will be too small, my single 80 has done 1340/2200. I think your limiting factor will end up being the valley charger. IHI or S300 are probably going to be your best bets IMO vs a VGT.

Would a 68/72 stg2r and a 5 blade 485 not hit 4 digits with 100 overs?

They do. The issue you run into is extremely high drive pressure since the VGTs can't flow anywhere near enough on the turbine side without a gate.

72r would hit 1000 but to get to around 1200, I’d need more fuel to drive it harder. I’d rather have the 88 on top either direction though and maybe even run the 1.15 ar.

Like I said, I got a few calls out there I waiting to hear back on and go from there. Valley charger will determined what/if twin kit I’ll be after. mark is one I’ll be picking his brain on between 68 or 72 on his chargers

A friend of mine just put 1329hp to the crank on Danvilles dyno with a 72vgt and S488, he has 250 injectors and a single 14mm pump..,

I would be impressed to see a s488/s472 combo make over 1200hp. I just tried that set up and hated it. Would love to see some track mph to confirm hp. A s400 as a single will make way more power then in a twin set up.

That was on Danville's engine dyno, they claim there is still some power left in it.

I'm running stock heads with nothing but springs. I do have a 6480AF tho. Dumb question, why a stock cam? No budget or just don't want to change it?

just wasnt going to turn the RPM most see the advantage of a cam from, turbo setup at the time i put the build together by no means needed it, and my cam was already key'ed ready to go.

if this engine survives the new goal for the limo, eventually ill pull it for heads/cam/maybe a block to then be put in a new chassis ;):D, but then its going big single. or ill sell it all, who the f**k knows at this point

If you're going for 4-digit power, I really think you would be better off going to an S400/S400 setup. I really like Richard's 472/491 setup. I was shocked to see his drive pressure was actually lower than boost pressure at peak power. It did start to creep up a little at 4000+ RPM, but I think the highest we saw at DPC was around 120 PSI drive with a peak boost of around 95. How much are you really going to be using it for tow duties anyway once you get your new L5P?

Keep in mind, a very simple way to make 1000hp is a 366/480 with 100%s. Lots of people have done it and still tows decent and is reliable. Drives nice as well

i guess alot of guys are assuming ill be towing heavy with the limo :D.

Josh, i want everything, dont you understand it! i want 1500hp, max torque at 2k rpm, max hp at 3500rpm, tow 20k at 100mph up hill during 1000* outside az temp, and daily drive this thing while being reliable to 300k miles. :roflmao:

its not going to be towing much if at all but i want fast spool up and my version of fast spooling vs others is very different (im pretty sure you know my pain in the ass deal here). i have some very hard limits here via hard parts and a very lofty goal, i know that. my weight, tire size, engine setup, what i personally want drive-ability wise and turbos im looking at dont all really fit together but thats where im making some compromises.

Im kinda thinking of running a DT 67G2, trying it with my 83, then swapping the 88 on and trying it. All on the G converter. if i hate it, ill go see our favorite sheep poker and get something looser (hate to give up the coupling unless mike has something that will work on this heavy bitch). Then play with primary's again and converter lock up/shift points. This wont be a "we need to throw this stuff on NOW and make it run 10s!", its more the fact i want to tinker/play with turbos and see what i like/dont like and if my 1200rwhp is a pipe dream or can happen. This truck aint gunna hit the track in search of a 10 till i know everything is working like it should and im happy. im not putting a cage in it. This is not the brightest/safest idea but my runs in mexico arent either :D

na i hate that setup. if im going to deal with lag, ill go 369sxe or 472 and the sxe88 im picking up. that 66/80 is an old "tried and true" method but imho, its out of date/underpowered in comparison to whats out there with comparable spool up times these days.
