Specs: 02 CCSB 4x4 federal motor intake 4inch exhaust ppe tuner rest of engine is stock.

So during a marathon drive towing a trailer from southern Utah to Orlando and back my turbo shit the bed. Cold side looks good and spins fine but howling from hot side when it attempts to build boost.

Going to pull it this week. What I'm wondering is:

1. If the housing is ok is there a rebuild that will give me a little more oomph and longevity.

2. If housing is shot I was looking at aftermarket turbos in my price range (1200) and found the afe bladerunner. Has anyone ran this charger? It has good reviews for the Cummins but I can't find anything on the lb7.

If it woulda happened earlier I'd have jumped on a cheetah but I just put new shoes on her and redid my a/c so funds are tight.

http://www.danvilleperformance.com/duramax-turbos/?sort=featured&page=2 In my opinion, Mark is the best in the business. Save a few more bucks and buy a quality charger. Might end up saving you time, money and headaches down the road.

I could probably squeeze for the DP or Garrett if the extra is worth it. I can't be without the truck for too long. 1500 would be tough but doable. Anyone run either of those chargers as well? Is the upgrade to one of these worth the cost over just rebuilding mine and throwing in an upgraded wheel and P&P.

I think the fact that Mark and the guys at Danville would be doing the rebuild and putting their name on it is worth the cost. They stand behind their products.

We have our LDS 64mm IHI rebuilt turbo in stock for $1395. Let me know if I can help.

What's the benefits (boost, spool, etc) of that over a rebuilt stock with a wheel upgrade. I've never messed with changing turbos but have rebuilt them for heavy equipment.

And would the noise be louder, less, or the same. Wife is hoping same/less I'm hoping yes.

The LDS isn't just a wheel it's a whole new cover and wheel. It bumps up your turbo from a 60 ish to a 64. Going to be a bit louder but good power too and a nice upgrade. So essentially you're getting a drop in 64mm turbo.

So it's not just a rebuild with new wheels it's actually bigger? I'm scouting forums trying to get up to speed but all that has done so far is make me daydream about twins.

And louder won't hurt my feelings just irritate the wife. I'll prob give Brent a call he's always steered me in the best direction.
