i think thats what they are all saying is 2k is that spot. i know my 475 in my twins wont start coming alive till then
I guess what I'm looking for is more of 1700 rpms or so and roll into the throttle without downshifting. I wanna see that sweet spot, where it has just enough heat, fuel and rpm to start singing!
boosted launches and don't really show spool up to me.
It's really just curiousity, wanting to see how the consensus fairs across the board.
Why the curiousity in the 475?

Purely out of curiosity from the times I see people say they spool quick. I had read things like that in the past, and when I found the 366/480 setup I had a completely different idea of what spool up should have been vs actual.
I'm happy with my setup, just not what I expected from lurking on the forum. I did not post this thread because I'm unhappy.
A single would be much simpler under the hood, especially with a tall pedestal that you can get your hands in and around easily. Wouldn't be very hard to switch mine over either but I doubt I will ever do that.
In my video on youtube its from a dead standstill with no boost. Just stabbed the throttle and went. You can see it lights around 1700-2000 rpms, but it still pulls hard before it lights. But when it lights it will bend the boost guage needle it hits so hard.I guess what I'm looking for is more of 1700 rpms or so and roll into the throttle without downshifting. I totally agree Josh the t4 should spool a bit better thats what i have i still have a touch of lag but my truck has never been finsihed tuned it had a hot tune loaded into it the day at the track and it has never been looked at again so mine should get a little better.I can roll into it at 1500 1600 and it starts to get moving and i turn day into night. Gonna be a bit before i can get you a video Russ pulling my cab to do head gaskets now.Why dont you try a t3 with a gate? Not to speak for Russell, but since I talk to him on a regular basis about his truck, I feel I know where he is coming from. I don't think he has a problem at all with the way it spools from a stop or rolling around with the converter locked. I think his biggest gripe is when he is driving around at about 65-70 MPH with a locked converter in 6th with the engine lugging along at about 1600-1700 RPM. When he rolls into it, the turbos just don't respond like he's used to with a stock turbo. I think he's just wanting to see how a big single and other larger non stock turbo setups compare to his. Sorry if I'm out of line here, Russell.
I know on my old set of twins (366/4718), they really seemed to come alive around 1800 RPM, but I also had an aftermarket cam and a T3 gated 366 instead of a T3 non gated 366 like he has. Personally, I think he would be a little happier with the T3 housing.
