turbo lag

I always see people posting about how the big turbos are "not as laggy as you would think". Can any of you do me a favor and post up an in cab video of the lag? Maybe a single 72-80mm range?

Maybe from a light roll and how about with the converter locked at say 1600rpms roll into the throttle and see where it lights.

I'm just curious as to what the not so laggy consensus is.

Isn't that all relative to what converter your running tho? There are some on here that have tried every suncoast converter and more.

theres a guy on here dmaxchris he has a 475 and has 2 videos of him driving his truck around and it spools extremely quick for a big turbo

I run a 75 on mine with a ML converter and it really isn't to far off from a stock turbo IMO. If I didn't pop a head gasket is take a video. Truck is extremely streetable

From 1600 with the TCC locked you're gonna get a shitload of lag and blackout the road. It's not really doing much until its around 2k. But other than that it's not too bad. Lemme see if the one video is still on my youtube.

IIRC this was before the new tunes after the turbo swap, so it spools a little better and pulls a little harder than this. Cast s472/83/.90, stock cp3, stock injectors.

Go to YouTube and keyword Duramax billet s475. Its a vid of my instruments, took off from dead idle. This is a tow tune also. It spools even quicker on the race tune but even from idle it spins tires from second gear on up.

Thats what I was thinking... a "75mm" turbo is going to act completely different with a 1.10 turbine housing verses a 1.32 or 0.90

Just curious what the EGT's where had trouble reading your gauge and what percent grade if you had to guess?

I guess what I'm looking for is more of 1700 rpms or so and roll into the throttle without downshifting. I wanna see that sweet spot, where it has just enough heat, fuel and rpm to start singing!

boosted launches and don't really show spool up to me.

It's really just curiousity, wanting to see how the consensus fairs across the board.
