I must be getting old and comfortable with my dinosaur LB7 tuning as I'm about to admit defeat on two trucks I'm trying to tune. The first is a 2010 LMM. Completely stock. Family friend just wants the DSP2 switch for the turbo brake and that's it. I CANNOT for the life of me get the switch to control the brake. I verified the switch is operating but I cannot get it to work with the switch. Any insight onto what tables to change would be GREATLY appreciated. I've tried different combos with vane position, EGR ON/OFF, desired boost, transient table modifications yet nothing with the switch. I'm losing my mind over this haha. Especially with my dad's LMM sitting right next to it with a perfect DSP5 tune from Steve that integrates the turbo brake flawlessly.

The other vehicle is a 2009 2500 with a 6.0 gasoline. He just wants the speed limiter removed and tire size changed. Everything I've done hasn't gotten rid of the limiter, and anything involving tire size kicks traction and stabilatrac almost immediately. Haven't done much, if any gasoline tuning but I had assumed the speed limiter was pretty straight forward. I can post up both tunes if needed.

ANY help would be fantastic as I'm losing my mind over something so simple!

Turbo brake..... Did you up the max vane position numbers in the base tune? If not then no matter what you do in the dsp tune it won't make a difference.

Speed limiter..... Check the Tranny limiter, there is a speed limiter there that needs to be changed as well.

Tables B2222-2224 are maxed in that area. As of now I have the brake tune setup on the main tune, no brake on the DSP2 side thinking maybe that would work. Have tried it both ways. The last two tries I did had both EGR ON/OFF vane tables modified. That equaled constant brake. Set the EGR ON tables back to stock and now no brake at all regardless.

Unfortunately the 6.0 isn't here at the moment but I'll have to revisit the tune.

If I recall right, on some trucks, if you set the ECU tire size too far off stock, the ABS/stability freaks out, and you need to reprogram that as well. That might be harder to deal with. The speed limiter should be easy, but sometimes there are multiple places limiting the speed, so look through all the fuel/ETC tables you can find (and the TCM, like rfletes said).

If you want to throw the 6.0 tune up, I can poke at it tonight. Never touched anything with a VGT, so I probably can't help with the LMM, though.

only time ive heard of the abs/stabilitrack issues are when you enter anything over 34.5". beyond that, you need a tech 2 and to flash in the abs module a metric MD truck tire size. i cant remember what it was but i used the setup mcrat posted about years ago for me to get mine dialed in, specially after putting gears in.

See I've heard of the ABS programming before but the tires are probably not any bigger than 33". If I recall they were 285/70R17 but it's been a while since I've dealt with the truck. I did finally nitpick through the entire tune and found selection H0156-"Speed Limiter Source" set to 'Other Modules' instead of ECM. Only part that stood out at me really.

The turbo brake truck is still here in my driveway awaiting answers. I'm sure it's something simple that's why I'm losing my mind over it lol.

In almost every 07.5+ I've ever done, it freaks out if the difference between expected tire revolutions per mile and actual revs per mile are more than 10%, roughly. Definitely more drawbacks in the stabilitrack trucks too

Oh really? Strange that my brothers 2010 didn't freak out then. He has 33s on it and I adjusted it like you would on the older ones and no probs. Does have stabilitrac too

Just curious with the turbo brake truck. When u were trying to get it to work u did have the tow haul on correct. I did not see that anywhere in ur explanation that u had that on.

I just used the tire calculator in EFI Live to adjust it accordingly since the tire size isn't a drastic change. It just changes H0136-"Tire Revolutions Per Mile", and H0139-Driven Wheel Rolling Circumference". Something else that needs changed?

And with the turbo brake I'm pretty sure Tow/Haul does not effect the tune at all. Just transmission shift/converter lockup points. However, yes I did have it on the whole time.

Have you tried a stock single tune with turbo brake? Maybe it's working and you can't talk since truck is stock otherwise? Or are you watching boost?

On the turbo brake tune you need to adjust the base table for vane pos min/max, then if you are doing the brake in a dsp folder you have to make sure the egr is off. As for the gasser, I ran into this on a 4.8 for a buddy. There's a change to make the speed limit controlled from the ECM not somewhere else, then it will respond to your values to shut it off.

Got it! ! So with the turbo brake tune I had to not only select NO EGR, but had to max out all the EGR min/max selections as well. Looks like it would still reference the EGR ON vane tables even if you select NO EGR. Guess I'll have to convince him to get a blocker plate installed.

Thanks a lot guys! I REALLY hate when the simple things are what stump me. Really nerve racking, especially when it's not even my own truck. I'll have to get that 6.0 back over this weekend and have another shot at it. Maybe bring the Tech II home and make sure the ABS doesn't need reprogrammed as well. Thank you again!

09 running on 35s. Speedo is dead accurate GPS verified. No issues whatsoever.

Keep everything min/Max but turn the egr control back on if valve is still hooked up and not blocked. I've had issues with the valve doing odd things while cruising down the interstate. I'm curious if anyone else has had these issues?

I've had problems with two trucks that I shut off the EGR valve but didn't block it. In theory it should never open but in reality we know that's not the case. Hence why I said I'll be ordering up a blocker plate if I keep it tuned off.

Just clarifying but it is my understanding as long as the you have the temps min/maxed properly the egr off tables are used. I've had no issues when leaving the egr control on while using DSP2 in either position.(I mostly tune using the dsp2 COS)

That happened to mine. EGR was shut of in tune but I didn't have the plate in. Truck was surging at freeway speeds since the EGR valve was probably half open. Put the plate in and all problems went away.
