FYI - never shut off the egr even if it's blocked or gone. Weird things happen sometimes, as mentioned. Leave the setting alone in Efi live, but change the parameters so it is effectively off. I've done this on several lmm's that are both blocked or removed and on ones that are stock. Remember though - without a blocker, even an egr shut "off" will still open under boost. You need to physically block it off.

Tuning my LML truck I do not have a problem with tuning the egr out without blocking it or unplugging it.

I've never had a problem either, as long as I left the egr control on.
My LBZ sprung a leak in the cooler line under the egr cooler, I was in a bind so I just bypassed it with a piece of hose, and made sure I tuned out the egr . It has been fine for over a year....
