so my truck is back together. i put my batteries in. its been 6 or 7 weeks since motor blew. i haven't charged them since. so i throw them in, and it cranks really slow, and almost starts. so i try a few more times. batteries dead. so, i pull the driver and replace it with a new battery (i don't have a charger, just a trickle one) fuel pump sounds nice and strong, cab lights work, check the CCA (900) but when i turn key, nothing. no starter engagement, but it worked earlier.

anyways, i realized my MIL light wasn't on when i turned the key to on. so i hooked up EFI to flash a different tune on there. cant establish a connection with ecm or tcm.

now, i should have a check engine light on cuz i only have my downpipe on and still have a 100% stock tune on. MIL light doesn't come on at all even when i first put the key in the ignition

WTF???:mad: what could it be? did i fry the ecm? make it lock itself? only thing i can think of is i touched the positive cable on metal for a split second when i was pulling the battery and it sparked. i checked all the fuses i could think of related to ecm and vehicle starting

please help!!!! sorry for the long post

I just looked again I see you have cranked it over. Are you sure you have it in time.Does the security light come on with the key on.Have you checke dto make sure all your grounds are on.Check your OBD2 fuse its also the lighter fuse.

it did crank over when i first put my original batteries in. they just didn't have enough juice to start the truck. security light comes on along with all others. only light not coming on AFTER battery change is the MIL. it came on before i did the swap. no codes show up. i don't think the ecm is communicating. even tried unpluging it along with disconnecting batteries for 10 min. i didn't check obd2/ lighter fuse. im home now too so i cant check till tomorrow

Try this
Turn key to run wait 11 min's,after that turn key of for split second then right back to run postion dont try to start wait 11 mins again or til the security light goes off in left corn of cluster, after that 11 mins turn key off for 3rd and last time for split second and back to run do not try starting wait 11 mins last time after the 11 mins or light is out turn key off the try starting, truck will start and run, if you check vin with efi live v2 will read the wrong vin but all runs great.

ah, now why would or what would have caused this to happen? i just cant get over the fact that it was cranking with almost dead batteries, then no start after a swap

When you had the key just on did the security light just stay on or did it go out. When you swapped the battery is that when you sparked it.

didn't pay too much attention to the security light, and yes when i pulled my stock battery i bumped the cable against metal and it sparked. but on that note, ive had my cable arc before and nothing occured

ya, i did 11 minutes the first time even though the security light went off. after the first 11 i did the on off process once the security light went off and tried starting on the 4th try. did i do it right? i was a little confused about your post

sounds exactly like my problem. no MIL and no communication but when i flip the valet switch everything comes to life.

I did notice my security light was on maybe ill try henrys technique. Im still betting mine is a bad ground, yours may be as well.

i think i fried my ecm. tried everything. snapon scaner, efi, fuses, grounds, power, voltage tests.... blah blah blah. nothing can establish coms with ecm. still no MIL light on dash. everthing else has power. glow plug coil light doesn't come on either. even took ecm apart half way. no burn marks or melting on the half i looked at.
