Crushing down I95 and I get on it then it Feels like it goes into Trans limp mode but it stayed in 5 gear lock up and just dropped to 2K. I can't make any more the 7-8 PSI and won't go over 2K. I have all 1-5 and reverse.

ANY input would be great!!

Thanks.

fuel filter?

When is the last time you changed the fuel filter? I had basically the same thing happen and i thought for sure it went into limp. I even pulled over and shut off the truck and restarted with no change. When I got it home I canged the filter and problem sloved. Hope you get it fixed.

Do you have a lift pump? Sounds more like a dead liftpump that isn't flow thru than a fuel filter. Filter would be my second guess.

In my opinion-- a fuel filter does not stop all dirt-- and when dirty-- it can pass more debris to the CP3 and injectors. That can get expensive!

Think so? Yes drive it, but try and stay as low rpm as you can as this will keep from straining your fuel system trying to pull that big of a vaccum.

Do you have an egt gauge I know when mine would start acting weird and my filter was clogged I couldnt get my egts to go over 900-1000. Might check that if you have one but if you cant go over 2 grand that prob would not help.

I agree the filter is designed to stop debris up to it's micron spec. When and if it's clogged I'd assume that it would even filter better. NOW if you had a lift pump ,which he does not , I'd be concerned about it pushing possibly debris through.

You aren't doing your cp3 any favors making it strain if you could change it right away I would definitely do it. If you had a LB7 I would recommend towing it :roflmao:

Got it home and changed my fuel filter. WHAT A Difference that made!

Side note - 55 bucks for a filter??!!??!! This was my first time doing it and paying for the filter.

Talking to my buddy who made sure I changed mine right he said they run about 50-55 for them. He has a Duramax also. We think since this is the first time in the truck life that it's been run hard and that could of clogged the filter with only having 8K miles on it.

Now I hear that people change the filter ever oil change and/or every other oil change, what one would be best?

Every oil change sounds like a safe bet! If you get a Cat 2 micron fuel filter adapter for the stock head great filtration and easier spin on changes would only cost 15-20 bucks. That adapter is only 100 bucks on Nicktanes website. High pressure commonrails need clean fuel. Filters are a whole lot cheaper than injectors and high pressure pumps. Also try to get fuel from a station who sells a lot of diesel. The last thing you want is fuel that's been sittin underground a while. Power service Diesel Kleen and 2 stroke oil are also great to lube injectors.

I'm going to be doing a lift pump soon, is it worth it to still do the change on the factory filter? I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to have 3 filters but just looking for input.

I do appericate all of the fast replays right after I posted this thread! :thumb:
