So my friends and I may be heading to the track to race daily drivers, a G8, TBSS and my LLY.

Short of getting tie rod sleeves, and lowering the front all the way down, I had planned on racing with the OD disengaged and curious if tow/haul mode would be safer on the trans? I know with my gasser, WOT lockup on a single disk was bad news.

As far as burnouts, again, used to bias ply, not 33s:rofl: Just spin em quick or don't even bother?

As far as EGT levels, whats a safe number to stay around? Hopefully have a CTS in by then and wanna make sure the 120hp tune is safe for this.

Thanks!

1300* in the 1/4 is said alright on so many but over that pistons seem to melt from many pics on sites with big tunes. Might try Water meth injection to help cool it for a maybe. Should get more out off it too give it what an experienced juicer does if you can get one to spill it for you.

Tie rod sleeves, dropping the t bars, and centerlink
Braces should take care of the front end issues. If you run that 120hp tune you will limp your trans. Stock 5 speed Allison doesn't like much over 75 hp over stock.

Well, its a PPE 120 tune, so crank rated, but I will throw the 90hp back on for this. :thumb:

I wouldn't worry too much about EGTs for a drag race. Sustained high egt's will cause damage(think towing up a long mountain grade). A few seconds over 1300 isn't that bad.

X2 I used to bury my 1600 Pyro every pass with the stock charger. Prolly made at least 75 passes. Now egts are reaching 1600 just before the finish line and over 100 passes.
No sleeves
Stock Trans
Full weight
Bars dropped
Good luck

Don't worry about egts in a 1/4 mile. The 160 tune is safe. Get the sleeves lower the t bars and launch in 4hi. Start with a small launch and work your way up till you find the "sweet spot" quick and smooth. After you get use to launching bump it up to the 220 tune for the last couple pass' if you feel brave. I got away with running the big tune for a while but it eventually destroyed my transmission. :thumb:

I've run mine on a 500+ rwhp tune, stock trans with OD locked out. Never limped it doing that. You may not have enough rpm with the Edge though to pull that off. Like raymer said, 4 hi, drop the frontend out, no burnout.

I got over 100 passes on my stock turbo hitting 1600-1650 egt's. Haven't hurt nothing yet running consistent low 12's :woott:

Start slow-work your way up, it’s a lot better to start slow and work your ET down each pass than to scare the shit out of yourself on the first pass. I would get sleeves soon. If it doesn’t feel right let out of it. I found that with the stock trans, once you limp it, it ran fine, but limped quicker each time.
I’m new to this too, but I’m finding out just take your time and ask lots of questions

With no front end mods get ready to have the steering wheel turn side to side. I remember my first launch felt like the wheel was gonna rip out of my hands. Scared the crap out of me.
