Yes, I get that. However, I'm kinda limited so far as to who actually knows someone in my area. I've had enough growing pains with Stealerships, hence why I'm more inclined to go to a smaller shop if they have the right experience and tools to do the job right at a good price I did want to ask Mike or anyone with knowledge what TCM tuning is needed, if at all, especially with a built trans?
Here's the scoop on flushing the Allison.
First the oil to air cooler is a stacked plate which means the tubes are contracted when cold to restrict oil flow to help heat up the trans. As the fluid heats up the tubes expand and allows more fluid flow. Problem is, crap is stuck in the contracted tubes and won't come out till the tubes expand. Sometimes too late and the crap gets in the valve body. Now we have stuck valves ( ever heard of a stuck E valve? ).
Next we have a problem with the heat exchanger in the radiator which does the initial heat nock down pre oil to air cooler. This is a perforated tube with a big hole coming in for fluid and small holes exiting out to the air to oil cooler. Crap get stuck in the tube. Air and normal flushing will not get it out. Your new trans still has a heat problem sometimes.
Using a Hot Flush ( name brand ) flushing machine mimicks normal street driving using 180F hot ATF to loosen and clean the coolers. This machine uses hot ATF and high air pressure with a reverse
I have seen crap come out of the coolers flow every 10 seconds to clean the system. This machines costs 6K.
I have seen crap come out of the coolers 1 1/2 years later to cause problems. Josh will attest to this as it was one of my shipped Allisons.
Worth every penny of it.
