Hello all, I'm new to these forums and to the diesel life. I recently bought a 2007 Chevy 2500hd 6.6 duramax LBZ with the 6 speed Allison. Here recently one night on my way home from work it shifted hard down and went into limp mode into 4th gear(scanner said solenoid b stuck on). After reading on these forums looking for answers and reading all of mikes comments, I removed the valve body and like he had mentioned there was a little dirt/grit in there. I cleaned everything, put back together with new filters and fluid. Now the truck is running fine, shifts good with no codes. However before any of this happened my truck normally ran 150 degrees on the tranny, after I put back together I now have noticed that my truck drives close to 200 degrees on my way to work in the evening, and on my way home in the morning it runs as it did before at 150 degrees... Like I said I'm new to diesels, this is the first diesel tranny I messed with, so is there a problem or am I worrying about nothing??

You are over full. Keep the fluid level at the half way mark on the hot grid.
I also don't think you found your limp problem in the valve body. Something else is going on. A code number would help. Your code explanation doesn't help at all.

My two codes I received were P0777 and P0700.
So you do not believe that I have fixed the issue Mike? You don't think its just fluid level to full?
Shouldn't it be tossing codes if there is something wrong?

P0777 means a tie up ( 2 gears at once ) That means you have a bad turbine/output speed sensor, transfer case problem or clutches going out. You did not fix this problem at the valve body. It will happen again.

Here's an update guys: I tore apart my valve body again and cleaned everything once again. I did fine two pan filter orings stuck. I pulled both out and put everything back together with new filters and fluid. My old fluid was burnt where it was running hot. But now it is running hotter than it ever has, it pegs out the temp gauge for the trans. It seems to shift fine again. The codes I got now are P0762 and P0741. Would a tranny flush help fix my problems or am I looking at a rebuild?

If you are not going to believe us; try another forum and get what you want to hear. We do not hold hands here; we tell it like it is. Your converter may be shot and you have clutch problems. Start saving your money for a trans.:D

You're going to need a new trans bud. Give one of the several awesome trans builders on the forum a call and set up a rebuild or order you a kit. I believe Evan @ limitless diesel performance is closest to you (Dalton, Mass) (413)-770-3585

Last and final truck update. First, I apologize if any one on this forum thought I was undermining them. That was not the goal, just all the transmissions that I have built have been older, nothing with this new electrical crap. So I just wanted to be certain it wasn't anything electrical before I went handing out that kind of cash for a total rebuild.
Took truck to redline diesel power shop and was told the torque converter went out, pump was worn out, C-1 and C-2 drum was worn and one of the clutch packs were burnt. Had them do the stage 3 build with efi live, should have her back tomorrow. Thanks for all the help and info!
