Would a little defueling help those harsh shifts? When I'm towing my 5th wheel, my 1-2 and 2-3 shifts really slam if I'm pulling hard to get on an uphill freeway ramp. Broken crank isn't something I want to have....

A little extra defuel might help. This is one of the reasons it is so important to do a fast learn with the Tech 2 or Allison DOC on laptop. The converter clutch has its own set of adapts which need to be reset and most scanners can not do that.

If you do a full reflash of the tcm with efi live it resets the converter taps as well. Just an fyi for those of you that dont have the higher end stuff Mike is talking about.

Went to go buy the Mike L PR spring last night, but DHD wanted $13.00 to ship it! Looks like I'll be using the Suncoast spring instead.

Yea i got screwed on the DHD shipping. They wanted 20 bucks for the pump to case gasket and 15 for the bell housing to pump gasket and 15 to ship. I went to my allison dealer and bought the gaskets for 10 bucks a piece and they were in stock right there..

I noticed in your signature that you have a bone stock transy. What is that?

Hahaha :roflmao: 100% stock no trans go jr or anything. It took a whole summer of 3000us and 28 degrees of timing. I just drained some of the fluid and there was no clutch material in it at all. Cant wait to get it built though so i can put some real power to it.

Doesn't mean that's a good idea.

What do you mean you drained some of the fluid? Did you pull the plug for a minute then put it back in?

Even if you pull the drain plug and drain the fluid until it stops. There's still about a 1/2" of fluid still left in the pain. That's where the majority of clutch material and metal shavings are going to be. That's if the spin on or internal filter didn't catch them first.

Alright so I tore my trans down today and everything looked great. I took out the Transgo converter flow valve and put in my modified stock one also put the mike L PR spring in in place of the shimmed stock spring.

Got the trans back together and just went out for a test drive. Everything is running just fine and dandy! Honestly I cant tell a difference from before. Not that I was really expecting too considering all I did was raise main line pressure about 45 psi and eliminated knock down on lock up.

One thing I noticed and I'm assumingg Iis how it's supposed to be is that the new mike l pressure spring is actually shorter than the stock spring. Just from eyeing it up the new spring appears to have slightly larger diameter material. Not sure I could tell a difference in spring tension when compressing both with my fingers. The new spring was about .125" shorter than the stock spring. No doubt it was a stiff little guy...

Anyways, I'm going to get a pressure gauge and hook it up so I can see exactly what the pressures are doing and too see if i actually eliminated knock down.

Wish I would have taken more pics but i was oily all day. I got a few i will post but nothing special.

Heading out for another drive right now.
