Best most affordable place to buy a lb7 trans kit. Do I need seals or just clutches and convertor?

Best and affordable don't often coincide. As far as seals and bushings, rings and bearings; depends on damage and miles. Do it right or take your chances. How lucky do you feel?

Not very. Trying to help a friend in need out. Just dropped a fortune on engine work 2 days later trans crapped out. Low mileage lb7 just lost the p2 hub I think mike. I totally agree. Just wondering what all we may be able to get by with. Thanks.

How is this even and real question? How in the hell are we supposed to know what all you need?

I honestly don't know why you would go to all the work and expense of building your transmission without putting new seals and gaskets in at the same time......

An "all billet" transmission might be a total piece of shit depending on who built it......

Good luck Johnny, sounds like you'll need it.

You can be butthurt at me all you want, but if you try to cheap out on something like this it will cost you twice as much in the end. Sorry if I hurt your feelings....

What's he doing with the truck? If it's low power, just buy a seal kit (generally <$300) and the raybestos torqkit setup.

I'm going to have to agree so many times over. My 3rd transmission I had Evan build it...I'm in almost 11k into this transmission and not one single billet part. Do it right! Do it once...just saying

If a fella doesn't have money for a quality built tranny he just doesn't......then he does all he can do, redneck it. But don't try to save on a build if you got the cheese to do it right. My .02

I would tear it down first, see what's messed up and evaluate the rest of the parts. Call Mike or Evan either one can get you set up.

I imagine the truck being down is prompting you to want to order some stuff up front but there really is no way to know what happened without tear down.

Excellent post. It should be the first reply all these damn "help" threads should get before anything else.

Not everyone uses these trucks as a status symbol!
To call his use of his truck a hobby is ignorant!
I travel for work and pull a 5th wheel all over the country. My truck is used as it was intended, not to see how much money I can throw at it and get as much power as I can to tear things up!
I'm sure he's got a good reason for his question and this forum is supposed to be helpful, not critical!

If you dont have a little humor then forums are not the place. Most of us that commented have been in his shoes. We know what its like. Best saying ever. "If you cant afford to do it right the first time then you cant afford to do it twice". We would hate to see him do a budget build for 2000.00 and have it fail again with no one to help cause he got cheap parts from joe blow. Even on stock trucks I would still run Evans kit.
