Not everyone uses these trucks as a status symbol!
To call his use of his truck a hobby is ignorant!
I travel for work and pull a 5th wheel all over the country. My truck is used as it was intended, not to see how much money I can throw at it and get as much power as I can to tear things up!
I'm sure he's got a good reason for his question and this forum is supposed to be helpful, not critical!
I think you missed the point entirely. But good for you. Don't tune it and use it as it was intended.

So what exactly are you looking for here?

You may be on the wrong forum. You might want to look in at Diesel Place, as it is an encyclopedia of Duramax information.

So what you all are saying is if you need help instead of criticism...go somewhere else, and just because I don't want to use my truck for racing I shouldn't be here?

I don't even know what to say here I've been on this site for years and have seen quiet a bit of shit in the duramax world. I have a pro built trans myself. Iowally apparently has something to prove here. I know what it takes to build a transfer to hold 1k at the tires. This is for a friend in need that striped his p2 hub and I was gonna beef it up as a favor. But as Iowa said Common sense must have left me when I decided to start posting on here again. Maybe I worded the first post wrong. Now I'm paying the price by reading a bunch of bullshit (not everyone ) those know who u are. Anyway I ordered a kit today Gmax clutches and seal kit for 1035. Plus convertor. If anyone can get close or beat it is can stop it but that's my bad for posting. Just delete the whole thing admin

Im just saying that if you have a stock truck and arent really interested in the performance side of things at all, then maybe DP is more your speed. That could be said for most of the new members the past 4 years or so.

This site was started as a Dmax performance forum. Its been watered down in the past few years and is now a shell of what it used to be, though.
Of course, you're more than welcome to stay here, but keep in mind that most us that regularly post here are used to talking about performance topics and bettering our trucks, not mundane "stock" Dmax stuff we've seen a hundred times.

Johnny, sorry.

Johnny, sorry.

I read several forums. I like to do as much of the work needed on my vehicles as I can and reading these forums seems to be the best way to educate myself on how to do things that I don't already know.
My truck isn't quite stock, but isn't built to race either. I do enjoy reading about all the performance upgrades and the process of installing them. It does help give tips for replacing parts whether stock or performance upgrades.
Seems the OP was looking for some information/advice like a lot of people on these forums do, but instead was given grief and criticism with a couple people actually trying to give help.

A question was asked. And an answer was given. I apologize if I came across as harsh.

But if you ask for advice on this site it is given. If you ask what's the "cheapest" your probably going to get criticized.

The CHEAPEST transmission is one that is DONE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!!!

2 "Budget builds" cost more then one good build. And a budget build, followed by a good build when it fails simply equals lots of wasted beer money.....lol.

Jonny, I really am sorry if I offended you that much. Your question just came across wrong I guess. If you already know how to build a transmission to hold 1000 horsepower then I would say this will be a walk in the park for you. :)

your reading way too far into this. i use my truck very much as it was intended, truck has seen the track 3 times in 4 years but i have built the engine, have a built trans from mike, twins, host of fueling modds and still carry my 35ft 5th wheel where ever i plan to go. matter of fact, 99% of the time the only way the truck leaves my driveway is with a trailer behind it whether thats my flat bed or 5th wheel but you dont see me bitching about the post you are and taking it as a personal attack ;)

do i think guys went off on the deep end a bit to johnny cause they dont remember him from being on here in a much more active state years back? maybe but johnny is asking for answers not one person her can give till the trans is torn down. i guess some of us cant take anything anymore without a little bit of sugar coating, sadly with the influx of newbies demanding answers with bs info, that sugar has been far licked clean. Worse part is, i didnt get any either

Johnny, ive seen you on here from years back jumping in and hammering on guys like this as well. You know this site and you know how things get. if you had been around here more currently, you would see where these guys are coming from with the "buzz off" posts they are giving on trans builds. that said, No one here can give you the info you need till you tear that trans down. until you know what exactly got destroyed inside and how deep you need to go in the trans, no one can point you in the direction you need for parts and seals to keep cost down. you said your self you are unsure but THINK the p2 is destroyed, now you are saying it is in fact done for. did you actually dig into her and find that? if you want to keep cost down, its going to eat up time to do so.
