Jiffy Lube?

They became Iffy Lube after a friend had his trans flushed on a fairly new car for a bunch of money and it failed 3 days later due to things getting stirred up and clogging servos. My granddaughter went there for oil & lube, they told her she needed a $63 PCV valve on her car or she wouldn't even make it home, I got her one for $2.49 and installed it in 3 minutes for her. Wouldn't go to them for anything.

Didnt mean to offend, my apologies. And I'm not saying there aren't guys capable of tightening a drain plug correctly and installing a filter properly... Just kinda reminding people to an extent you get what you pay for.

None taking just answering your question. And I could go on for awhile about the screw ups that happened just while I was there.

1st time I used lube pros in my area for my work truck (because my company thinks its better and cheaper for them to change the oil in our trucks) they left the drain plug loose after a few days of it sitting in my drive way and the oil running out from under the truck I took it in and it was ready to fall out.I still keep using the same place and right after I got my oil changed the truck locked upand bent ever valve in the head.our garage that changed the motor said the manifolds got so hot it turned them gray.I told them to test that oil because it was probably power steering fluid or something stupid but they didn't want to hear that and dumped the oil.Oh and my company makes our trucks go 7,000 miles between oil changed.......it was 9,000 but they said they wanted to change it before it needed it :roflmao:

Damn this turned into a hell of a rant tread. Why don't we throw Obama in here while we are at it?:D

I think he understands that his expectations where a little off. I don't know that we needed to hit him with a bus then back over him too.

I understand your frustration on getting mixed information. Got to decide on who you trust more. Your local shops reputation or some interweb know-it-alls. The Trans go Jr. was the right choice and $500 is on par.

You are prob right. Some just get tired of dealing with champagne taste people on beer budgets in our respective fields of work. We learn to avoid these people as they are often more trouble than what the "profit" maybe worth to do their job. Tire kickers are also annoying and rampant these days. The OP prob did get more attitude than he deserved and likely may not fall into the categories above.

I agree this was getting a little over done does the bus run an ally lol I don't think that price is out of line being a shop owner myself I charge about the same normally 4hrs time for trans fluid exchange jr kit install new fluids & filters and ya im in bc where he is at @ 95hr shop rate do the math installed lots & its just time consuming and being carefully one of the best things you can do to a stock Allison or a built one. Gill aka mr shift knew his s--t and probably forgot more than most people will ever learn about transmissions rest in peace. not sure where this other shop was ranting about removing them because of problems but try driving a stock ally again and wow you really know how lazy sloppy & bad they can shift just sayin. :thumb:

Hah, maybe I deserved the bus running over, I may have come off too harsh with the price of the first shop.

I appreciate all the useful information that has been brought to light for me about the costs involved with this, and feel much more comfortable about it.

Jiffy Lube has a problem with drain plugs. They either leave them off or over tighten them. Both cause massive leaks.:roflmao:

Read some DIY threads on DF or DP it is not that simple of a DIY when you make one mistake read a few of the stories and finding that check ball that got loose etc. These shops are taking one heck of a risk for just the $250.00 for the install, $250.00 for fluid if they exchange all the fluid. One mistake or complaint and they have "bought" that transmission.

Just to get out of town I may just take trip to California and plan a few places to visit while I'm there...
