Glad I came across this thread. Looks like I am due for a fluid change and will be going to visit Mike soon.

When I had Mike L change the fluid in the trans a couple months ago, I noticed the same thing. Truck shifted better and smoother. Had about 38k on the fluid.

I use Schaeffer's 204SAT Alltrans which now is a full synthetic fluid instead of a syn-blend.

I did another drain and fill last night, fluid was still a little dark, converter must hold more than I thought, but that's 24 qts total ran through it. I'll def service it at 25k next time.

Hah mines a 14 model with 136,000 on it and on original fluid and filter... also put 265,000 on a lb7 and never changed the trans fluid or spin on call me crazy but have never had one fail yet

Yeah. I drive a little too hard for that, and not servicing a 4500 dollar trans I didn't want to buy in the first place seems pretty dumb to me. I never serviced my LLY til it was built either but it coming out was inevitable.

Yeah built trans maintenance is completely different than on a stock truck.

People don't realize that stock clutches don't shed on a stock power truck so the trans unless abused stays cleaner, although the fluid still breaks down.

Aftermarket clutches shed and restricts the filter and can ruin it if not changed routinely
