Junkyards arenlisyed for $60 a piece online, so I think I could escape for 100.

Bad news is that style tow mirror didn't come out until 06, so there is no factory one that will bolt on directly and plug right in. You can probably swap plugs and make it work though. Also keep in mind that some trucks use a different plug for the mirrors with heat than those without heat. I know in my body style they offered both, and the ones with just power used a 4 pin plug while those with heat used a 8 pin plug(but they only used 6 of the 8). So for simplicity I would also recommend just buying a set of the aftermarket bolt on ones with just power so you don't have to do anything but bolt them on and go. Also then you should hopefully not have to worry about cracked or broken glass and bad motors in them.

so I finally sorted it all out, using car-part.com and http://www.longroof.info/pdf/rpo.pdf

Manual, Dr mtd, (West Coast), spring mtd, (1 rect mirror, opt 9F7)
Manual, Dr mtd, (West Coast), w/o spring mtd; 1 rectangle, 1 round, opt DG5
Manual, Dr mtd, (West Coast), w/o spring mtd; 2 rectangular, opt 8G9
Manual, sail mount, ext camper opt DF2
Manual, sail mount, swing arm opt D44
Power, integral turn signals, (power extending, opt DPF)
Power, w/o integral turn signals; (opt DL8)
Power, non-heated (opt D48)

Our truck has the D48 mirrors. The DPF mirrors were only available starting in 03 with the redesigned connector, and are power extending. All the rest are full manual, even if for trailer.

So there's only 2 power choices, the $174 ones from AM autosport, or find some DPF's at the junkyard and retrofit the connector to the pre-03 version, and run a switch for the expanding mirrors.

Me personally, I like the challenge/idea of that latter part. Except they are $300 per side. :spit:

The AM autosports look awfully good all of a sudden. :hello:

I wouldn't use the 03-05 power extending mirrors if it were me. Yes they are nice, but many have had motors fail, and I don't think GM sells them anymore. The company that made them for GM is still making them through there store, but yes they are PROUD of them. The 06+ manual extending power adjusting of the glass like were posted earlier are a GOOD set to have, and is the same mirror I run. They do vibrate a bit because they are so big, but you can REALLY see with them. In all honesty your quest to save a few bucks is most likely futile, just spend the money and buy a set with the right plugs and be done with it.

Good info on the plug, which ones did you order? First time towing a gooseneck with sport mirrors the other day, I'll never do that again...

I think I'm just going to bite the bullet, I checked and I've got the DL8 option so it should be plug and play. Looks like I can get out of the no-tow mirror problem relatively cheap, I was worried I'd be stuck with manual adjust mirrors like my Dodge.

So, the dragster. Signature says the 68 was sold, is the 2002 next in line and what are the plans?
