Are any special things required to changethem? Any extra switches on the door or anything?

32 foot x 102" x 7.5 foot tag trailer + sport mirrors = bad juju

What trucks would have them? Only 2500/3500?

Does the whole door panel need removal or just a corner?

Depends on which features come with the mirrors that you purchase but for the most part at least in my experience most of the dmaxs come standard with the options for the mirrors just not the mirrors themselves, so they should be plug and play!

Correct , even tho they can fit on a 1500 only the 2500/3500 came with them as an option. Your best bet is to get a set off eBay unless you are wanting a legit factory setup in which you will pay more for.

Only the corner needs to come off to take the old mirror off and mount the new mirror however the wiring is behind the door panel, which means you must remove it in order to unhook the harness and run it out and then reverse back in for the new 1!

The truck only has bare mirrors, I don't think they are heated, and they do not have turn signals.

We just need something to see around our racecar trailer. 32 tag (37 total), triple 6's, 102 wide and 7.5 high.

If you want power mirrors you need to stick with 99-02 as 03 they changed the plug for the power mirrors. As far as what will bolt right on, 99-07 classic will work(keep in mind though that in 99-00 there was 2 different body styles available, GMT-400 old body style and the GMT-800 new body style). I think the newer 03-07 mirrors will work if you cut off your old plugs and swap them to the new style mirrors, but not 100% certain on this.

Thanks. I will check into that.

I have connections to most of the local yards. I'm sure I could walk out for under 100.

If all your doing is swapping the wire connector, I don't think you will have to pull the door panel off

Our trailer is on order from Cargo Mate, similar to this one- 32 x 102" x 7.5 , 37 feet tip to tip with Triple 6K axles, whole trailer is pro-rated to 15,000 pounds with hydraulic jack. The sticker on the truck is 11,400, so technically we'll need a recreation CDL since the GVCWR will be 26,400 ... 401 pounds over the limit. Tailgate + flap is 10 feet, plus 37 feet of trailer, plus 20 feet of truck. So about 57 feet rolling and 67 feet parked.

On both my old lb7 and lly as well as my new lmm, when I switched to tow mirrors I had to remove the door panel in order to disconnect the plug from under the window switch as well as un route it from in behind the door panel to get the plug all the way thru... You might be able to get it out without pulling the whole door panel off and leaving the handles and cables still attached, just might be a little tight!
