That’s pretty much on par with what I was stating.

Agreed. To be honest, I am still awestruck in how quick that combination reacts. Hell, I don't even know if my stock IHI is that quick. It'll run out of steam in the 750hp area but it'll be perfect for what I want. I don't foresee having an issue even if I do decide to make a few hooks with it.

If your stock turbo ain’t coming on to 20psi at 1500rpm and good throttle, she’s real shot, tune issue, boost leak or drive leak.

If you change the wheel on the stock turbo or upgrade the size, it lags worse than that 364. Russel (yellow Chevy) found that out when testing

Lets just say this IHI has had a rough life before I got the truck. I read Russel's testing and orignially was going to do a port/polish job on my IHI but with it's current health I feel like rebuilding it is going to be a waste of time and effort when this S364.5/S480 setup spools darn near as good and makes a bit more steam. My wheel has some damage to it from slop (reason why I think it was lazier) so by the time I buy a wheel/rebuild kit I'll be a good portion of the way to a S364.5/68/0.91.

I'm going to take a crack at fabrication. I won't be doing the final welding but I'll tack everything together with my mig and bring it to a good friend's house to tig everything together. I'm going to start with a PPE cast pedestal and go from there.

It’s just the big turbo that’s the limiter. I easily made 800 on 480 over p/p ihi. 483 and 100 overs was a seat of the pants difference in power from before. Blake had track proven 950hp on his old truck with stock lly vgt and same 483 I had

10-4. It looks like (on Russell's LMM) drive pressure starts to get angry above 3500-3700rpm which is completely understandable based on the turbine wheels and housings. Hopefully it doesn't get dangerous if I make a sled pull where it sees 4000rpm+, not like that's is main use but I'd like to make a few hooks as 1 ton driveline can handle that load much easier vs my LLY with triples.

I may have missed it, I noticed he had tried the 64.5 and 66. Did he have a preference between the two chargers? This is the exact route I want to go on my lb7.

I honestly don't know. Russell and I have talked about his 364.5/480 setup and he loved it.

Id rebuild the IHI with a Wetzel wheel, p-n-p it and add the larger to it.

Well the HSP kit is already paid for. I thought about it but by the time I spend all this time/money on an IHI the cost isn't much more in terms of kit pricing to go to a S300/S400 compound kit vs a stock/S400 kit plus the S300s are cheap/reliable.

Being where you are with it I would go with the turbos you are talking about. As long as your convertor is right for the setup you will be very happy with it.

Plan is either a DK or R. I've driven many R converters with various turbo setups and like them. Regardless of stall I'll be getting an extreme clutched converter to hopefully increase this things lifespan.

It trying to high jack your thread here but I’m kind of on the same topic as you. I have a lmm with a Danville 63.5 in it right now. When going up some hills it tends to drop down into 5th when towing a decent load. If I added a 475 on top of the Danville would that help me stay in 6th?

Yes, but that doesn’t mean you should want that. When you don’t down shift your making a lot of heat and stress in the engine.

I figured heat might be an issue which I’m ok with experimenting with as I did some cooling upgrades and I live in the Midwest so it doesnt get to crazy hot all that often. As for stress, as in a lot of torque at a low rpm?
