Texas Y'all
Everybody realizes that now. Thats why they started bashing engineers.:(

Incorrect, re read and try again, it was stated that since an engineer said so, its right, thats far from the truth sometimes.;) On a side note i never argued either way about the extension, i seen something that was stated, that was not always the fact, so i put my input in.

I was once told by my boss that I was HIGHLY PAID for a uneducated person. I asked him why he had "ME" come and adjust his valves. I then told him I have wasted more for my education than he had in his fancy house! Real world is hard to beat. Thats not taking anything away from people with degrees just stating it doesn't take one to know what your doing. Jeff

No one is bashing engineers. Just stateing that just because someone is an eningeer doesn't make them smart. I know lots of smart ones and lots of dumb ones. There are dumb lawyers, doctors, and ditch diggers too. Just like saying just because someone is a member here they know what they are talking about. There are smart people here and dumb ones as well:D:hug:

This is a joke. I agree with Ben. Its like saying you shouldn't use a deep well socket to torque a bolt. Torque is torque extension or not. It will take more energy to torque something though the extension because of the added distance not because of an added force. But it will not have any more torque. This is like argueing that putting a pipe on the handle of the torque wrench throughs off the torque reading.

Ok, we got it.....3 pages ago!:violin:

What is a joke is this discussion, And how people handle themselves when they are correct.

:truestory: Ive been wrong before and It will happen again.

FWIW, I used a 2 inch impact with 1000psi air pressure on my converter bolts. I also used a 1 1/2 impact on my vavle body. I haven't tried the trans in the truck, but wish me luck.

I prefer to use electric impacts, I cant stand the air hoses holding me back and snaking all over the garage floor

Those highly paid, educated people can't cross a busy intersection without getting run over most of the time..............:D

And you can't put a price on someone's knowledge gained by experience !!!

Life's lessons are better than sitting in a classroom witha bunch of books listening to a professor.

JMHO

this went in the shitter quick....

Yup

Silly slush box guys. You dont need those pesky torque converter bolt. Or atleast I dont.;)

I am not even going to bother with adding tech content. Some will surely no better than me. :drama:

I will say dont make things more complex then they need to be. Weather it be your torque wrench setup, tuning, or anything else for that matter. The wise man keeps things simple to limit his troubles.;)

I thought you were so sure of yourself that you didn't need my stinkin tests. :D
No I didn't have time to do it.
There were some great replies and made me think a lot about this. I was taught many years ago to do it the way I do and it has worked very well I discussed it with a friend who had the same feelings as I. There is a lot of merit to what Ben posted and some of you other guys. Did it convince me? No. But this is what it's about; exchanging ideas.
I say do it your way and be happy.:D
