Have a set of Allseason / Dirt Hooker Traction bars that I'm installing tomorrow. Noticed when the threaded end goes into the tube it isn't a very tight fit. Just curious how people were getting them straight? I was thinking I would wrap the end in tape then slide it down into the bar so it would be more snug and more likely to be in straight before welding it in. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something before I go and booger them together. Pics of completed end joints would be helpful!

I'm no help in this situation, but from the pictures on his site they look kind of like clamp mounts.
The clamp is to stop the bar from turning when its tightened down. The actual end piece needs to be welded into the tube. Its my understanding that when you loosen the nut you can simply twist the bar to preload it then tighten the clamps back down.
Your talkin about the threaded slugs or inserts. That the heim go into? If it was me id insert a correct size bolt thru the heim and run a square down the bar to the bolt edge for alignment. It would then be striaght to the bar. Unless im miss understanding u.
That was the goal haha. 2 coats of white primer, 2 coats of rustoleum metallic gold, and a few coats of acrylic enamel clear. Down the road I'd like to built a weight box and buy a set of pull specific wheels and tires. Paint them all the same color. Naming the truck Gold Rush:coolspot:

those mounts are alot different than mine. I wish I could exchange mine for those. These old ones look like a pain to install.
Sounds like you're volunteering your welding and fab skills in exchange for some cold beers.
Steve, what I do when welding the inserts is insert a smaller diameter pipe into the threads and check with a sqaure. Tack at least 3 sides, then recheck. Dont let it get to hot when burning the weld in oe else one side will usually sag and will no longer be square
Got the bars on today. Everything went well but the frame is a bitch to drill. Its almost like they designed it o hold up to some abuse. I was pleasantly surprised to find they don't make any noise and didn't affect the ride at all. Cut 2 inches off the bars but I expected that. Pictures to follow. They're sexy.
