well the timing calc i do manually with my graphing calc matches almost perfectly with yours spread sheet, i just get a little lazy at the end in the non race rpm's and they dont match up so well with the % before tdc im calculating for.

one thing i want to know about the calulator maybe that can be added is the increase/decrease of timing to compesate for the rail pressure. Is that in the calcuations?

First thing i want to try and add to the calculator is add some of the lower rpms to the calulations, and also adjust the timing for when the pilot injection is on or off

I'm not sure what you mean when you say the timing numbers don't match up in the non-race RPMs. The same calculations are used across the board.

The calculator sort of adjusts timing with rail pressure. It will take the desired rail pressure and see what the pulse time is for a given fuel quantity at that pressure. It then uses the pulse time to calculate the desired timing percentage. It will not increase or decrease the percentage for higher or lower rail pressure though.

I chose not to include anything in the lower fuel quantities and RPM because I didn't want the calculator to change timing in idle areas. It wouldn't be hard to add those though.

I was talking about my timing tables not mathing up with yours in the non-race fuel quantity and rpms because i got lazy with it the calculations since i to it with a graphing calc.

I was thinking to asjust the timing slightly for the change of presure across the table, the lower pressure the fuel burns slighty slower, the time could be neglitible but with an increase of pressure the fuel burns faster so timing could taken out when the desired MPA is over 160

I chose not to include anything in the lower fuel quantities and RPM because I didn't want the calculator to change timing in idle areas. It wouldn't be hard to add those though.

adding the other lower rpms and fuel quantiities would be cool to see hwo ti affects the spooing and driving.

Also if the pilot injection table could be used to asjust timing, retard timing when the pilot injection is enabled and keep the cam calulations for when its not disabled.

i can do all the calc with a calculator, but i dont know how to do it with spread sheet

I see what you're saying about the fuel pressure. I agree. That's why I made the tables at the bottom where you can change the percent BTDC on a cell by cell basis. I don't know enough about burn rates, etc. to make the calculator adjust automatically.

Yikes i better work on my tune! calling for 53 deg of timing at one point! better knock the pulsewidth down.
I'm guessing that was probably at higher RPM?

im try and figure out out to make some calc changes to the timing calculator.

one thing that could be added is something to incoorporate the pilot injection. its on all the time in the rpms under 2600ish so the timing does not need to be the same, but i guess thats what the other empty field at the bottom could be used for.

still a very nicely put together, makes my life simpler since i use the same calculations but one at a time

i dont understand how to use the timing calculator. anbod want to help

1. On the bottom left there is a tab select what your motor is, 06 lly-lbz, llb7-lly, or lmm

2. on the top left of the spread sheet there is a box to enter your desired % of injection before tdc, so if you want your pulse width to be roughly 50/50 put in 50%

3. minimum timing is the lowest ammount of timing you want.

4. scroll down to row 29 and "Copy and Paste Table B1001, Fuel Rail Pressure, to Cell B30" so just highlight all of b1001 or the rail pressure base table in your dsp output. and past it in all the cells.

5. Row 54 is where you paste your whole main injection pulse table in. and then scroll up top and you can see the timing table it will make for you.

so what is a good btdc number. how low should you go with minimum timing. i did the other steps just wasnt sure where to go from there

you can play with it. try it out with 40% it will be smoky with a big pulsewitdh watch your egts, but big pulesidth ur gonna get smoke without alot of air. you can adjust your minimum timing and use the other tables down low to adjust the timing a little too indiviually

i try to not let the timing go below stock on the tables so i compare the timing tables to stock and match them up with stock.

well i did do some things differently than the calculator, i cant make the changes in the spread sheet, but ill discuss what i did on here.

I run slightly different pulse widths in tables B0720 and B0721. And i have my pilot injections turned off from 70mm3 to 110 and 2600 rpm to 4800. So for that section of my timing table C calculation i used B0721 as opposed to B0720.

The timing dropped a little bit since the "race" fuel quantities are lower in my B0721 table vs B0720. I havent adjusted the timing to compensate for the pilot injection pulse yet but ima keep playing with it :thumb:

Not sure. I'd have to look at it and see. I doubt it would be that complicated. I'll try to look at it sometime this week.

What do you mean by percent of injection before TDC. Like what is the scale off of? This seems wicked useful but extremely hard to understand. So say you want to build a RACE tune what would you put there?

What about an economy tune?

Please explain cause I want to use that spreadsheet to help build a tune.

Also how come when I paste injection timing base A the 110 4800rpms is 29.11 not 29.4 like it is on my efi live tune that I copied.

Also it skips from 3400 to 4800 on my thing this is really confusing to me.

Bump for this guy. I would like to know myself.
