After a big mix up with shipping the forged pistons back and them saying 2 were damaged i have my cast set being cut and hopefully sent out this week. just wondering tho, how are you guys modifying your water pumps? welding them? or whats the best option? and as far and the y-bridge ive seen some get welded, is that a good upgrade or would buying a aftermarket bridge going to benefit more?

We run the stock plastic water pump in my truck and Maxd out as its the only one we haven't really heard of breaking. Too many of the welded pumps breaking.

So mahle keeps pushing my pistons back and back, ive been on the list to get them for 3 1/2 months now. im starting to get a little impatient with them mainly because they said they had a set on the shelf that would be sent out so i paid in full for them right then and there. im just curious what other pistons you guys are running and having good luck with. im needing my truck back up and running as soon as possible and i cant wait the 3 more weeks mahle has pushed me back again

Got a pretty good start on the motor tonight. got all the bearings gap specs checked and the crank, rods and pistons in. only question i have for you guys is, with all the pistons in how much resistance should it have when you turn it over? I ran a fillet gauge around everything when i was putting it together and i used a dial indicator to measure the end play. Im sure everything fine with it but this is my first one and im a little nervous lol

Looks great! I really regret not doing pistons in my build. I could turn my engine over pretty easily but my piston-to-wall clearances were a bit loose with my stock pistons. How hard is it to turn over?

"hard" is subjective. Put a torque wrench on it and let us know how much torque it takes to turn over. I'll go out to the garage and spin my short block here in a second and let you know.

Fresh piston rings and bores do drag a little more than those in a nice broke in engine.

The rod ends should be able to move back and forth a little on the journal.

Loosen the rod caps a little and check again.

Post a picture of the bottom end.
