Okay. So what I've been reading the socal is pressed on to make it an integral part of the crank instead of a slip fit balancer to keep the likely ness of shearing the key way on the crank. It dose make more since now. I'm glad I made this post. You guys have really helped me out and I really appreciate it! Thanks!

We're glad you did as well, none of us want to see someone build a motor just to have it fail! Can't wait to see your build up and running.

Really? Because I had to run reliefs on my Hamilton Cam with less duration. I lost the exact specs in my other phone but its around 196/202. I guess it kinda depends on the lift also. Has your machinist built a Duramax before?

Not trying to be an ass, just like to see people get a good build the first time!

Yea, he's done several. One of them was my buddies with pretty much the exact build and the exact cam I'm running, and he just put coated de-lipped lb7 pistons with no cuts in them. And the guy at premiere that I've ordered some parts though said I didn't have to have then to. But I got them just to be safe

Smith machine shop in Frankfort kentucky did the machining and I'm assembling it with a couple of my guys around here. It will be my actual duramax build but I've done several engines not that there the same I'm finding out but all the same basics. And plus I can't afford to pay someone to assemble it

He really is one of the best machinist I know around this area. and the fact that you can eat off his shops floor at any given time even while hes cutting a block says a lot for him and his group! and

yea he told me he dosnt like cutting them because one block ruins his cutter lol but he wont turn you down it just costs a little more to get one done

Alright guys while im sending a few parts back and STILL waiting on my rods! lol but anyhow while im waiting im wanting to go ahead and get my heads ready for the short block when I get it done. and I am not 100% sure on how to change the springs out. I know on gas motor such as a LSX they have a tool that bolts onto the head and another bolt to push down on the retainers to let the keepers loose. Is there any kind of special tool to do this or a write up on hoe to change them out?

Burn down, are those extra clearance bearings called "HX"? I was going to post but couldn't remember exactly what they were called and didn't wanna look like too much of a dope. :D
