Those of you in the 11's or 10's, what kind of setups?

For those of you in the low 11's or high 10's, what all do you have done? I'm starting to think ahead to how much further I want to push my LLY swapped half ton. I'd love to hit low 11's or high 10's, but it depends on what it takes. I've done a best of 13.14 @ 103 at Bandimere with a totally stock engine, stock trans, and a 125HP tune. I ran it through the traps in 4th gear since it limps on the 4-5 shift. My 60' wasn't spectacular, 1.81, and the DA at the track was 7725 ft. I think I can hit high 12's just by improving my 60' times a little bit, and someday when I move back to Phoenix the decrease in elevation should help some too. My race weight is about 5300 lbs.

This spring I'm going to build the trans, install a lift pump, and upgrade the tune to the best I can get out of the stock engine/turbo. Not sure what that will do to the times. I haven't ruled out the eventual option of doing compounds, and I wouldn't be opposed to doing bigger injectors, but I REALLY do not want to build the engine. Too much $$.

I guess I'm just looking to do a reality check on whether or not I'll be able to hit my goals with the mods I'm willing to do. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?

There are tons of setups available... I like big singles personally. 60% over injectors and an S472 would be sweet. You could also just add an S475 compound setup with 60% overs. Either one is going to yield enough power to hurt hard parts

Built motor is in your future, I'd say you'll need to spend another 10K-15K depending on what you do yourself and just how future proof you want the build to be.

Hmmm...if that's the case, sounds like I won't be making my goals, lol. I was hoping I'd have a little bit of an advantage since the truck is lighter than most, but maybe that's not enough.

I think mid to low 11s can be had without building your motor but you will be riding a fine line

little bigger sticks (40-60 over) and a 475/stock at that weight should give you the mph for 11s at that weight.

I really don't think 10's are realistic with a stock truck at least not more than once. On the cheap you have to build the tranny for sure, a little bigger sticks, better CP pump to hold rail pressure and a lift pump and spray it will get into the mid 11's. Sooner or later you will break something but it can be and has been done many times

I completely agree. At the end of the day you end up paying for it, you'll also have it blow up at the worst possible time:)

I ran a best of 11.2 at 5200lbs with stock engine. I had head studs, Danville mod pump, Danville Stg.2 68mm turbo, 50% inj. and a Mike L trans. I had over 100 1/4 mile passes with that combo. Then I put a Danville S480 over the 68 and ran a best of 10.6. The truck weighed 5300 at that time. I had about 50 runs like that before I bent all 8 rods.
I think 11 will be easy as long as you can pull a good 60ft.

Perfect, thanks the insight! I know 11's on a stock motor with crew cab weights in the 7000's isn't realistic, but I was really hoping that the lighter weight would help quite a bit. I can be happy with 11's, at least for a little bit :roflmao:

Either a 72 or 75 single, 60-100% sticks, and a very loose converter should get you in a decent time here at Bandimere. I could see a stock engine surviving with the lower weight and good tuning :) Still wish I could have seen your truck run in person.
