I finally got a chance to drive the dumpster down the road and weigh it on the scale at the truck stop. After all the weight reduction, I managed to get the weight down to 5320 with me in the driver's seat. I was shooting for 5300, so I got pretty close. I'm not sure if there's anything else I can pull to get the weight down. The only thing I can think if that might help is if I built a lighter weight engine cover (the stock one is surprisingly heavy) and/or light weight suspension stuff like maybe some coil overs or some lighter weight A-arms. Or I could go on a diet, but...

Would it be feasible/possible to cut the floor out of the cargo area, run a few tubes for support and skin it in aluminum?

Or have you already done something like this? Sorry, I just sorta jumped into a pretty long thread and haven't read through it:eek:

I could, but I don't think I want to spend that much money on aluminum sheet. I think I'll just wait and see what happens with it like it is now and go from there.

Is it that expensive? I have no idea what a sheet goes for? Nor how much work and tubing it would take to fab up the proper support structure to withstand the forces your applying ;)

I would "think" that the process would net you a few hundred pounds in weight reduction though...get you down into the 4k range :thumb:

Same for the side door, remove it, tube the opening and skin it, there's a hundred pounds, easy...you could even pin the tubes in instead of welding them in, so you could keep the door functional....lol

Kinda why I said it's gonna take 800hp to get the job done. 2wd is gonna be tricky lol

I'll check into removing the doors, but I don't think they're as heavy as you guys. If I removed the side doors, I think I would want to skin over the hole.

Wallace Racing says 792.15hp

I just checked it. That's flywheel horsepower. Rear wheel shows 712. I have to question the accuracy of their calculator though. It says I'm putting down about 670 with my 11.37 pass. It says I was putting down 590 on my fuel only pass. don't think that is correct.

The CompD calculator says I was putting down 527 to 544 hp on my fuel only pass depending on if you use trap or ET. I find that to be pretty believable. It also says I was putting down 617 to 619 on spray. Also believable. It says I'll need 657 to run a 10.99. Based on the other numbers it has given me, I think it's probably pretty close.
