Lol thanks guys. I've heard this saying before and it really holds true "if you turn and look at your rig as you walk away from it, you know you built it right" lol.
That is a sweet rig man. I love the wide fenders makes the truck look like it has bigger shoulders.
I could see the rear had been pulled out also. Its just done cleanly so it doesnt stick right out at you and i like that.
You gotta hand it to gm every truck we have had minus dads new truck the factory paint is very good and holds up well. Dads truck must have had a robot that was shorting out you can see where run were sanded in the base coat in several places. Not to mention the damn fly frozen on the roof under the clear coat.

Out here, I see a ton of oxidized clear coats. The sun is killer on it. I have to chalk a lot of the paints health to my dad when he owned it. He waxed it once a month and was always garage parked. When I got it and moved up to snow country, it was clay barred and waxed every 6 months when I had the time. The amount of dirt pulled out of the paint up there compared to down here is unreal. That salt really gets in the paint
This saying holds true for me. Few weeks back some of my family mentioned my current truck is the only one i've ever done that with. I just told them I must of done something right.

The "salt" flagstaff used was nothing in comparison to what they do here in Michigan. flagstaff/dps used more of a sand and cinder mix didn't they? We used the same stuff dps used supposedly at walgreens... was red in color. Here in MI they barely plow, they go with the method of "just throw more salt on it." I Have to was the truck once a week here otherwise I get little yellow/orange marks on the paint within two weeks that turn to rust real quick.
Truck looks damn good buddy!!!:coolspot: I'd leave the few and small blemishes on the truck, adds character a bit and also, once you get it painted you are going to obsess and fret over it way more because its new paint... speaking from my past experiences.

you have no idea how perfectly ok i am with that lmao. I have lost "passion" for the paint since i see all the issues in it. I would love to wake up saturday morning, roll the truck out of hibernation, wipe it down or wash/wax it, and go for a cruise it to the 67th car show that happens every saturday night.
They used some "non salt" type shit that was suppose to be non corrosive which was a crock of bs. the first few years you and i were up there, they used mainly cinder and some salt. when they swapped to that new stuff, alot of the cinder spreading stopped and they were using that crap. it started eating the coating off my frame pretty quick and i was washing it once a week at DPS but i could still pull crap out of the paint with a clay bar like you wouldnt believe. hell my wheels have not been polished in 4 years and they barely took much elbow grease to bring them back to a shine. one winter up there and they turn to crap quickly!

I had a thread up a while back about trying to get my truck into a magazine and how thats been a goal of mine for a long time. Well i was just offered but Diesel Army to do a shoot on my truck this weekend! they are an online magazine but ill be more than happy with that. 
I have a bunch of goodies on the way and will be cleaning the truck up for the shoot this weekend. New leather seat covers and bottom cushion foam for the driver seat on order to be here saturday. bumper lights turned yellow so a new set of those on the way. Calling the dealer to see if i can get a new grille before the weekend. then off to the painless dent removal place by me to get some old dents knocked out. Im also going to touch up some bad rock chips best i can. then a list of parts to put on that ive had sitting on the shelf...
never did get all the new powdercoating done. i didnt want the down time and doing the LLY top end swap last year took up my time to do it. by my next set of tires, ill be ready for a full truck re-spray and new powder.

i have black aluminum skirts that have since gone on there to cover that stuff and some of the core support

It sure would be nice if you would post pictures of this portion on the project. Thinking of doing this exact thing myself, but after I get back from Phoenix, my winter home.
