I've got a 2001 f-150 5.4l bi-fuel cng. I bought it from a gsa auction in Norwalk CA. I'm pretty sure it was a beach patrol or something similar in its previous life cause every nook and cranny was chalk full of sand and has quite a lot of rust. Bought it for 6k and got a 2k state rebate for "going green." Natural gas is subsidized in Utah and currently costs 1.49/gal.

It had a bad oil pressure switch that would always tell me it had low oil pressure on cold start ups when it was below freezing. So i also ignored the light when it was actually out of oil. Put a junk yard motor in it for 450. Recently it had an issue with a coil on plug that caused a misfire. it blew up a catalytic converter and plugged the one behind it. Chopped three of the five out to fix that mess. Must have tweaked the exhaust when i did that cause the muffler vibrates like crazy now.

Its a slow ugly pos. I hate it and really like it at the same time. Oh ya the radiator and heat exchanger both got replaced last year too.

no rust but it needs paint, interior and the doors sag bad

The motor is fairly decent it is a recently rebuilt 350 with some minor mods

I have. 98 s10 blazer 4.3 v6 (flowmaster 40 series muffler) with 178@@@ on the clock. It was first car. It has made the journey from San Diego to San Antonio about five times. I recently replaced the front coil springs and the front end came up two inches then realized the leaf springs are almost inverted so ill be looking to replace them soon. Ac recently stopped working but so cal so I'm ok. I average 3000 miles a month or more. So ill be using this till the wheels fall off. Lots of leaks btw could use a rear main seal and alot of other seals. Just don't see a point in selling it if its paid off.

I drive an 01 Grand Prix GT with 154,000 miles most of the time and through the winter since I park the truck. It is nice having something you're not worried about and I like keeping the truck out of the salt. Truck hasn't moved since Dec 2nd.

My beater is a 95 chevy 1/2 rclb v6 w 356k , still runs good . Even though one of my horses kicked grill in earlier. While wife was shewing him away from eating my truck seat, we're she spilled all the feed . A few budlight's made it look better:D

00 or 01, I can't remember GMC rc lb 1500 183k. Runs like New. Torsion bar crossmember rusted off frame couple weeks ago , had to weld it back on. Gas tank is ratchet strapped up. Everytime I get an egr blocker plate I throw it in cab but can never find them when I need it amongst all the other junk

In good shape or rusted up? If nice, I wouldnt consider that car to be a beater by any stretch of the imagination.
IIRC, that year had the swivel buckets, didnt it? T-top car?
Sorry, you start talking '60s/'70 vintage cars and my ears perk up.
Yeah they sure did i had a 74 Chevelle Malibu (my 1st car) i loved that car and wanted the Laguna so bad.I loved the swivel bucket seats and the car had a factory lock out shifter, drop into 1and push to the right and up at the same time and it would lock at 2 do it again and it would lock to 3.God i miss that car.I still have a set of buckets and the center console with the the shifter in a crawl space in my moms basement.

Those big long doors always had to have the door bushing replaced lol

It was a sad day today.....we sold the Cavalier. :( Decided to find Kole a new car, he's now driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT....mainly because the Cav was beginning to stall out occasionally, the trans was balking when cold, and the rust was beginning to be a problem again.

Good bye, old friend. Roni will sure miss you.
Thats to bad Tom those 3.1s were tire eaters for sure.It was disapointing when GM took the cavs nuts away and went with the 2.4 twin cam, which brings me to my current Hoopty.I have a 99 Cav z24 2.4 twin cam:D 5 speed 225 on the clock.White faced gauges, strut bar, header, highflow cat (which is pluged) borla exhaust, and a sweet ass cai lol.Leaks oil but i beat the hell out of it and it still gets 26 mpg.I will probably keep it till the frame rots out and even then i may replace that because i have 3 cav parts cars right now and a sunfire.Yeap i can fix it forever :spit:

My duramax was my daily driver, but now it just tows thing. Here's what's been my hoopty up until recently. And yes while it's rare it's a hoopty. I'm about to fall thought the floor, engine has extremely erratic oil PSI, the trans decides it doesn't have second a lot, and if you fix one simple problem something else more expensive is bound to break. Ended up getting a new Passat TDI so I can restore it.

My hoopty is actually pretty nice ! Its my sister's car I got in the estate when she passed. Its an 05 altima 230000 miles. Runs and drives like brand new.. seriously no joke not a single problem. Purs like a kitten its unbelievably reliable. Drove from central Illinois to new Orleans a couple weeks ago not a single problem. needs mew brakes but until its screeching im not touching it lol rotor warp has been there for a year. So I will have to do all new anyways. Gets 30 mpg all day on the interstate. No complaints. And I keep it very clean. Tan interior shows everything! I always tell people ill sell it for 2.5k! Had a lot of people damn near write me a check but then they ask mileage and they stop... im like dude drive it. It was taken care of. Works perfect!. O well guess ill just keep plugging away!

:roflmao: a friend of mine keeps telling me to do a rear engine duramax swap in mine. I don't think it's possible, my cars not wide enough

The older ones would be cooler but the new ones it can be done. My buddy has a cooper s and it looks like it could fit if I add 6-8" to the front in the fender behind the wheel.

Like they did in the text mule for the Cadillac Sixteen engine in a Tahoe.

Not quite a hoopty, but my DD is a 2008 GMC 1/2 ton CC/SB with a 6.0L. I got it in 2011 since my Dmax was having issues. It's not a bad truck by any means, and it's held up well considering what I put it through. The only issues I have with it are the terrible interior (not a full load truck) and the paint is falling off the box on one side. The truck was in a collision at some point, no idea when or where. The truck is originally from Texas.

My hoopty is a '97 Deville. Got a screaming deal on it and only had 80,000 miles originally. Have had to replace numerous things like usual but it's still an awesome cruiser. Hollowed out cat with flowmasters. The subs and 20" wheels throw people off a bit when a goofy looking white country boy climbs out of it :roflmao:

It dominates the snow here in Colorado, even with the 20's lol

Bought it last year for $800 with a "freshly rebuilt 350" just to take to an off roading event that I go to every year and honestly figured I'd blow it up there and just take all my stuff off it and leave it there but I gave it hell and it held up so I brought it back and fixed it up mechanically and I drive it around all the time now. It's only been stuck once and above is a pic of that time lol

^^ I'm digging the boat speakers on the roll bar. I may have to steal that idea!

You don't have to steal it, ill give it to you lol I haven't ever seen it on another truck though. The ones on mine are Boss brand and actually sound EXTREMELY good. I was very surprised, you can get them for about $80 a piece off amazon and the 2400 peak watt Boss amp for $120. I also put an alpine V12 2000w peak 1000w RMS amp and 2 alpine Type-R 12's in a rhinolined box in the bed facing the cab and it is RIDICULOUS! I've taken all the stereo off now but I still have the amps behind the seat. I just put all the speakers in it when I go to an off-road event or the beach or something. One of these days I'm going to swap an LQ9 6.0L in it.

99 S10 .... 2.2L's of pure SLOW. At least it's a 5 spd. Can't imagine how much more gutless it would be with the auto behind it. Oh, and at about ~135k right now.
