So I made a big mistake which has lead me here. About a year ago I sold my '12 imprezza and bought my truck with what I had left over from paying off the note. I landed in an 06 LBZ with 632k miles. Truck ran and drove great. The box has a little damage but for the age and mileage the cab and interior are in pretty good shape. The motor had a minor oil and coolant leak, but what can you expect after 632k miles.

After 8 months of normal dd use and pulling a 23ft boat, it developed a chirp and blowing coolant out of the resivoir. Rather than attack the truck I decided to throw a motor at my wagoneer and have been dd'ing that since October. Truck progress has been slow (I typically work 50hrs a week and have my kids every other weekend) since Im not the most motivated to work on it. I am trying to do this without pulling the cab in a 2 stall car garage. On with the picts.

The truck. I added the topper and have since painted it white

I like that Jeep. I hear you on the expensive parts. I have already replaced one of my head gaskets because my truck was doing the same thing.

Wanna trade a 2011 Duramax for it. :D For $5k you can buy my truck and drop the LML into it or just swap out the body and put it on the newer frame/running gear.

TX of course
$3k for an lbz that ran fine for 8 months. That's an awesome deal. At that point you probably could of sold it for 2500 easy for a parts truck.

Heads are back from the machine shop. Assembly will start tomorrow. I cant wait to quit driving the jeep so much and re attach things that have shaken loose over the last few months of dd'ing duties.

Nice work so far. I've always wanted to hear someone put the mileage on these trucks. In CA everyone seems to get rid of them around 150k.

I hooked up my main battery without issue and as I connected the main the ground for the drivers side head got hot and started to smoke. Im guessing this wont be fun or simple.

Check the wire for the starter might have bin crushed. Or unravel something applying direct power to ground.
Follow the melted wire u will find out why
