That's retarded.

Shoe'd horses will slip and fall on conrete, brick give the shoes somthing to bite if they do slide. The bricks should have tall rounded shoulders so the shoe can snag it if they start a slide. It isn't real easy to get a horse back up if they fall on concrete, usually they panic and will thrash tell they hurt themselves.

These are "open pore" textured bricks, that are listed in City Hall. Apparently they tested the bricks for wet/dry traction for shod horses. They aren't normal bricks, think lightly textured cinder block. Under the bricks is a concrete bed with 2" of sand on top. City Hall has blueprints for how they want them built.

It is kind of cool to be hanging out and have horses parade down the street on a summer day. But no more horses for me.
