The guy who was supposed to do the gates didn't work out, so I guess I'm going to do the gates myself. I will draw BP's and submit them to gate mfr. This time, they will be aluminum and powdercoated, and should last more than 3 years like the last ones died at.

I also have to find a pair of "pilaster lights" that will look OK. There will be two concrete pilasters on the sides of the drive gate, and I had them wired for lighting.

I'm sure you'll be fine. it looks really nice. It just gets old having to keep an eye on everyone that does work for you.

Amen to that.

$90/yd is about what we pay here. I would have thought Cali would have been a lot higher. Glad to see you got it done.

OK, this is my prelim gate design. Not for looks obviously, I'm not much of an artist. To keep costs low, I made a simple design. But from there, I can add artwork to it.

Turn the ped get around so the high side is on the same side at the car gate. That way you have (from L to R) high-low-high-high-low. You can still it swing the way you have it in the drawing or swing the other way. Other then that looks good!

You do realize a D9 at WOT will knock that gate down.:baby:

whats with the split of the gates not being centered? Just wondering. Looks really nice IMO.

It will allow me to park in driveway right up against the gate on the left side, yet still be able to get a truck in and out of the backyard easily. Opening both sides will permit a trailer or motorhome to be backed in and out without much trouble.

What is the actual purpose of the gate? Is it just to lock up the house/yard at night, or will the gate stay closed at all times?

It will stay closed at all times. It's main purpose at least for me, is to keep my dog in :D

In that case, I would really recommend an electric gate opener (at least on the primary side of the gate). Constantly getting in and out of the car/truck to open and close the gate would get real old real quick.

We actually don't use it all that often. Maybe one or twice every couple of months. My car goes in the house garage and Wendy and Blue are parked in the drive way. Just motorhome and trailer are parked back there. Meanie is parked in the man cave but doesn't get driven much since I most times have the kids with me.
