OK I remember not too long ago this place was THE TRUTH in diesels. Noone shyed away from calling someone out when they suxed on something and there were no fanboys except for Mike L which everyone is his fanboy...myself included... ;)

Looking to tune my LML next month. Been reading up on it forever and Kory and Motor Ops seem to be recurring names in the LML arena. If you cant even TALK with Kory and everything is referred to his staff (another post indicated this in tuning section) then count me out unless hes the absolute shyt because thats BS right there. Customers are #1 in any business including my own. Now I know the other forums are mostly kiddies with not knowing anything better and I want HONEST opinions on this. Last tuner I had I was not all that impressed with customer service and that to me is 50+% of the deal. Im not looking for wild. Just a stock LML with a tow tune and a hotter tune for mileage or "safe" play (under 100hp??). I dont care if it smokes a bit as I know how to drive quite well. And I DAMN sure want this lazy ass pedal to start doing its job instead of calling GM everytime I press it hard to ask if Im allowed to do that. Want to do TCM tuning as well if anyone has any feedback on that. I know Kory just started it last month so not sure if I want to do it just now...work the bugs out first.

See Im still thinking old school like Tony, Idaho Rob, ect... but not even sure if they do LML's. I have EFI Live and can load my own and log my own stuff.

So whats your HONEST feedback of your LML tune. If you dont want to post it in public whether good or bad then PM me so I know. We need to make sure people are not getting screwed by the hype.

I have got tunes for my LML from Rob at ATP and also Kory, Cant go wrong with either IMO. Rob has probably done over 40 tunes for me in the past and his customer service is really good, and tuning is fantastic;) He also is very busy these days and its rare to get him on the phone directly but he has always got right back to me VIA E-mail.. The only reason I switched tuning on my LML was because I was sick of the emissions sh!t and wanted everything deleted and at the time Rob was not offering Delete tuning (Not sure about now:confused:) That said I am pleased with the tuning I received form Kory and have spoke with his guys a handful of times and they have been very helpful.

I myself also like talking with a tuner over the phone. Sometimes its hard to explain over email. If you are to busy to take time to talk to me on the phone, it worries me about the time spent on my tunes. Kory has great tunes until they need customized. Many issues on mine and a lot of guys trucks around me. Blamed the truck. Bad enough where I won't even load his tunes for people.

I now use Tony. Could not be more happy. It feels great having a guy who keeps asking for logs and making tweaks. I can tell Tony is not in it for just the money. He doesn't charge to update tunes. Also had updated my tunes on the weekend and sometimes late at night when I'm at the track. Most tuners take a couple business day. The only down fall with Tony is needing a stock file for tunes. Many trucks I find come from out of town so it's hard to pull files before hand.

This is MY experience and opinions.

I have never ran everyone LML tunes so a hard comparison, but I do believe Kory has the most experience on that platform, but you cant go wrong with any of them IMHO..

THIS is what i want to hear. I kinda just had a feeling about Kory. Nothing against him but kind of like me when I used a certain someone back in the day when Dmax tuning just came out and we were all over at DP. Needless to say Im not wanting to go back that way again. Still leaves a salty taste in my mouth. And no it not from that either for those of you with dirty minds.

I have MotorOps tuning on my LML and have no complaints, although I have never had to deal with there customer service at all. I just ordered a Autocal online and installed the tunes.

Oh and FYI, MotorOps is the same as Duramaxtuner!!!

I am tuned by Mark @ Danville Performance. Their customer service is TOP notch and you can actually talk to him on the phone. I will recommend everyone to him.

Some of these mentioned may not do delete tuning and if that's what you want then you don't have as many options..

I will say this for PPEI.. I emailed them this morning asking for a tune that fueled diffently and I got a email back two hours later with a new one.. (I haven't had a chance to load it in my truck yet to see if what I was requesting was done or not but I'll do it in morning and update that other thread I'd started..)

We have been offering tuning for LML models for two years.

We are beta testing LML trans tuning currently.

I am a small company for a reason, I want to be able to offer my customers the best I can, we are friendly with our peers in the industry so as a consumer you should do your own research and decide what will work best for you.

We have a great relationship with Rob, Kory and Mark at Danville.

Thanks for considering us !

Dan Clarke at dans diesel performance has done almost 100 trucks for me now. He keeps his cell on his hip at all times and I've never had to leave him a voicemail in last 4 years I've been dealing with him. He's done several deleted lml tunes for me and the customers were very happy. I have dealt with Motorops once, had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get a single delete tune. After that I was done. And I've also dealt with PPEI on one truck also. The tune wouldn't flash in the truck because the security code didn't match, I called them and of course it was almost closing time so I only got an employee who took down notes and was going to give them to Kory. I was asked several times if i was sure I got the tune flashes correctly and if I had pulled all the fuses that were needed to be pulled during flashing. (I'm sure they get ALOT of kids calling every day asking questions so I was not offended by the questions to help filter out my knowledge lol) then the next day I had an email from Kory, he needed some more info on the truck, I ended up just sending him the read file and he got it taken care of. All
In all not a terrible experience but too much work for just a tune in my opinion.

Mark won't touch an lml! Fleece wouldn't delete emissions as of last month. Mark does excellent work by far my favorite. I recommend him to anyone 2010 under.

From my experience with ATP (dont have an LML though), the guys I have spoken with, specifically Monte, have always been helpful over the phone and via email.

Sometimes, I do get the feeling that Rob is starting to get too many customers to really take the time to answer you within 24 hours, but thats to be expected with his business.

I am happy with ATPs service for the most part, however, when/if I build my transmission again, I will most likely let someone more locally tune my truck in person, or drive to South Carolina and let Tony tune mine in person

I would highly recommend that whoever you let tune your truck can be gotten in touch with in a timely manner. I have seen trucks have to sit around a guys shop for a week to get the tuning strait. The truck could not drive down the road because of incorrect tune files. These were done by very reputable tuners as well. In today's world too many tuners take for granted what actually got them to where they are. That would be a passion for what they are doing. With that passion came good customer service and a personal touch. Then they became big names in the industry and you know the rest if the story. I tune trucks as well myself, including lml trucks. I have not paid fees to get on here and market my tuning. One reason is that I will not loose that passion and personal touch because I will limit the work load enough to keep it I tack.

Then you have guys like the one I dealt with last weekend. I do tuning on the side as a hobby when I'm able to help pass the time. I don't charge much, mostly just enough to cover the VIN license, and my V2 in case it quits on me. I do it through a friends shop, and it helps him as he makes money off of it, and I get something to do every once in awhile. A guy came to him to tune an LLY, we were all set, then he found another local guy who promised him the world(smoke which I will not do, 500+ HP and his stock trans to hold, and 30MPG, you know the drill). They end up calling me to come look at it because the guy fried his ECM trying to flash it. Went and looked at it, and the ECM was fine, he had left the aftermarket chime module installed when he tried the flash, and it interrupted it after the erase command was sent. He then charged them to tune it AGAIN because he said it was a VIN problem with his truck, and he had wiring that caused it. I looked at it with the radio module unplugged, and had no trouble linking to the ECM, but it was blank needing a tune put in it. They had me talk to him to see what all he did, he swore he didn't do anyhting to it besides license it twice, and who was I, where do I get my tunes, theres no way I write my own as it's just to complicated. So I proceeded to ask him did you read the stock file out? He said no, so I asked how did you aquire the base file to tune it? He started babbling, so then I asked did you get the VIN and find a file that way? Turns out he bought an unlocked file from somebody else, and is just flashing the same file into everybodies truck he does, and is charging them $600 a pop to flash and put in a DSP5 switch. The guy even had an EDGE, so I said why didn't you set it up for serail switching? He hung up the phone on me.

So be VERY carefull who you get to tune your truck, and like said above, make sure you can get ahold of them for retunes, and how much retunes cost.

Did not know motor ops in Nick. Good to know as thats out of equation now.

Let me ask this since I come from the gasser world. Is there that much difference between tuners tuning a stock truck? What Im after is not so much huge gains but usable everyday power and few mpgs. I tow 7000lbs regularly and dont want trans all messed up. HATE this TQ management on here. Ive never had it before and its driving me NUTS. Driving an 8.1L with no TM is addicting. Is there a need for 6 tunes on my application? Im thinking not. Thinking maybe a tow and hot for mpg. I CAN control my right foot knowing trans is not built and how much they are so thats motivation enough not to beat on it.

So guess question is can you go more power with a good tuner than a bad tuner without hurting trans? Like defueling at right times and so on? And I assume 80hp is most you can go on stock trans? Or less?
