Played some more. even when trying to stay in 2nd gear, t/h, the converter wont lock. It will if I feather it into WOT, or start in Manual 1 and move up to 2nd slowly. When it hits 3rd sometimes it locks and sometimes it dont (right away) but it wil always lock 3rd after a bit of messing around.
4th nd 5th are always locked, or no TCC slip anyway in T/h or normal....

And even if we could full flash the 6-Speed TCM, I don't think a LBZ cal would work on a LMM or vice versa since the LBZ sends some data over Class 2, but the LMM uses High Speed and Low Speed GMLAN.
I could be wrong, but I just did some logging and the table seems to be right. It seems that the TCC solenoid pulsing is creating a lower pressure at the start of lock-up on a stock tune, and it gradually goes to full pressure . I just loaded a tune that has 145psi values for the whole 295 and 443 columns, and going by the log, the pressure to the TCC goes from nothing to full with no smooth ramping up. The stock tune would go from 0 to 66psi for a split second, and then full pressure 152PSI according to the scan tool.

What Im saying is I think "PSI" is the wrong UNITS to have applied/named to the table. Because as far as I know the TCM doesnt reference ANYTHING in psi. Only duty cycle or on/off. If you log the TCM, you see the TCC solenoid DUTY cycle go/ramp from 0% to 50, 66, 77, 90, 98%, etc.. Its % duty cycle...not PSI.

you are right ben ... quite simply because there is no sensor for tc pressure for the tcm to reference . i think the pressure in the table is a hypothetical # kinda like they use mm3 for in the fueling table's .
I agree our speed sensors are not accurate as mike said, which is why you can burn clutches and not limp imo.
I also think you guys converters are too loose to lock it would be too violent for your converter to lock when you want it.
Brayden has the turbobrake on sale which can command lockup.

i have a turbobrake and the converter locks at the start of second gear everytime. at least the light comes on. so i am pleased
what makes you say that? Would you still have that opinion if mike hadnt said anything about it first?
I know. I already established that point 2 years ago when I first started complaining about this annoying allison trait.

I dont know why brayden cant just release a standalone lockup controller.
Hes had the turbo brake out for a while, which obviously works as a lockup controller......so whats so hard about taking off the "turbo brake" part of your widget and just selling the lockup-controller part?????
and before anyone says "well brayden is busy and you dont know what goes into making this stuff, its a lot of work", mmm yes, I do. I made the 6-speed tap-shift work on my 5 speed a year ago with a custom designed controller box, so Im aware of what sort of design stuff goes into these gadgets.

brayden is building a lock up conrtoller for a friend of mine with a lb7 , should have it soon he ordered it a few weeks ago and was told 2 weeks , i will let everyone know if it actually gets to him and if it works well .
Why don't you do it and then get some well deserved monitary kickback for all your knowledge??? You know and understand the electronics of these things FAR better than most and IMO can and should be using it to your advantage monitarily.

I was wondering the same thing. IF you can build a controller for the tap shifting why having you built a TC lock-up controller yet?:cool2:
I havent been able to figure out what kind of FET/solenoid driver to use to drive the TCC solenoid.
Its a low side driver, but I dont really know how much current, etc.. the FET/relay will need to be able to handle to properly drive the TCC solenoid.
Im pretty sure its pulsed at 100hz, with varying duty cycles.
Making the control circuit is pretty easy. Simple PWM generator, set it to 120hz and a max of 97% duty cycle, and use a capacitor on the discharge leg of the 555 timer, which would give a ramp up from 0% to 97% duty cycle over say 1 second....
I just dont know how to interface that circuit with something that can actually drive the solenoid itself.; im not an electrical engineer.
