Today Jason and I (and some help from Robert Miller for truck prep) went to Westech's SuperFlow dyno to do the first stage of fuel testing.
We used a 2004.5 LLY with 89,000 mi. Modifications were aftermarket exhaust, Air Raid cold air induction, and EGR delete. Tuning was the stock tune file for all tests. Baseline was ULSD pump diesel. All tests were 3 pulls or more. Only pulls that overlayed each other better than 2hp (1%) error were used.
Pump ULSD = 233rwhp average
SynDiesel racing diesel from Hyperfuels = 231rwhp average
We went back to the ULSD at the end, and it overlayed within 2 HP.
Basically, with a "stock" truck and tuning, it doesn't matter which of these you use. Claims of 5-8% performance increases with a stock truck are not realistic IMO.
Next will be testing on a full race setup.
