Ferman,do you know or anyone know if the ACDelco is a repackaged Borg-Warner.?
No clue whos it is. Just know it engaged at idle where my HAYDEN does not. Also my HAYDEN just never seems to really lock in solid, then again I RARELY get it up over 215 degrees where it just begins to pull in. I've only been up 1 6% grade towing about 9K pounds for about 3-4 miles, and ECT's never got over 220, but the fan did pull in pretty good that 1 time.

And I have no experience with the 2886 nor can I even try it, won't clear my radiator in my swap. I still don't see how a fan clutch setup for extra heat loading is going to work well on a truck with less heat loading. I may be wrong(won't be the 1st time, just ask my wife), but it is MY opinion, and we all know what each's opinion is like. I'm SERIOUSLY considering going to an EVC on mine if I can ever find one that I can adapt over that will run a 21" fan. The F-150 EVC just doesn't seem heavy enough to me to move enough air for a DURAMAX engine. The full electric fan clutch design would be nice for the perfomance crowd as it would allow for an engine driven fan to move enough air to keep the engone cool, but when off it would have virtually no parisitic drag like an electric fan offers.

The smaller grille opening on the 400 trucks vs 455/800/900 series truck.. Could contribute to less airflow and higher ECT l..ess air flow mean fan clutch engages later

Definitely agree on the EVC setups class 6 and up trucks run air clutched fans.. When disengaged it just windmills..

Interesting... The 2886 cleared on my 99 3500hd and the fenders are same length... Only difference is the 455series core support is 2-3" taller than. The 400 series trucks. Did you move the engine f/r on your swap? Mine transmission was never moved.. Bolted the engine to transmission then made engine mounts

I know by the new dodges (6.7s) have electronic controlled van clutches.

Your 3500HD had the taller radiator support which allowed you to slide your cooling stack furthur forward. I had to gut mine out BIG time, and still barely have any clearance between the fan clutch and radiator(just enough to slide the fan clutch in and thread it on). The 2886 is a bit taller than the 2843, so it's a no go for me. I started to go with a fan clutch for an LBZ, but the stock 21" fan would hit my A/C compressor with it. SO I'm stuck with the LB7 fan clutch or a 6.5 fan clutch as they are dimensionally identical. And DODGE went to the EVC fan clutch in 03, problem is DODGE uses a 30X2.0 MM thread, and the DURAMAX uses a 36X2.0 MM thread. There was a 2 year period where FORD used a 36X2.MM EVC for the F-150 truck, but it only uses a 19.3" fan on it, and I'm just not convinced it can move enough air to keep the DURAMAX cool. FORD used a 40X2.0MM thread on the EVC, bbut it is to tall to fit in between the radiator and pulley. So I'm stuck with an LB7 fan clutch for now until the electric clutch comes out, and hopefully it will work as the dimensions he said sounds like it will work.

Lol I had totally forgot about the lower "fan on" temp. Driving it for the first time today after all the add ons and fixes, I noticed the fan coming on a lot quicker at traffic stops and slow cruising. Just figured it was hot out till it dawned on me almost all the way home it kicks on sooner lmao.

Well that's good to hear, from both of you. I was hoping that it would kick on sooner.

Trying to get all my different temps down, kinda new to this I'm used to doing whatever it takes to get temps up where I used to live :spit:

Put 20,000lb behind the truck... And you won't have to worry about getting anything temp related "up"

Ect never got above 200° even at full throttle for upwards of 15 minutes at a time.. Pending grade length and truck speed... ~25,000lb gross 7x8x20' box 90° humid day 13 mile 6% grade.. EOT 240° egts 1100° eop 40psi transmission 160° AC was cold whole time

I put the Hayden 2843 on my LB7 a couple weekends ago, and it does come on lower than the ACDelco. Seems to pull harder as well. Made a big difference in getting the AC cold in traffic. I'd do it again.

So what's the difference between 2886 and 2843 I wonder.
2843 just says severe duty replacement for pickup. The 2886 is for Kodiak but they look the same and I would bet they they function about the same?

Well I don't thing anything but a big ass radiator would have helped me up the hills yesterday.

110* outside temp, 12k on the back and cruising 65-70mph.

Tops of the hills, 165* intake temp, 260* oil temp, 217* fuel temp, 240* water temp. 4th gear turning 2700rpm and 3/4 throttle. She got hot but I couldn't hold consistent speeds either with traffic so lots of acceleration in there too.

On the hill prior, water temp hit 234, 190* fuel temp, and 250ish oil temp. Speed was much more consistent.

Outside temp is a killer here...

Fan was on since 20 min after I left lol. No aux fan on the oil cooler but it's out front in direct air and shrouded in to catch as much air as possible while not in the cooling stack.

This was way better than it was a few years ago lol

According the specs, the 2886 is just shy of a half inch taller. The confusing one is the 2843 and I believe the 2840 for the 6.5's. They list them as different apps, but EVERY detail listed for both is the same.

The 2886 looked much different than the stock fan I had. The fins facing towards the front are much much deeper on my stocker than the 2886. They are the same debth though.

So on my drive home, 90* outside, held 5th gear 3/4 way up the big hill (6%) then kicked down to 4th to cool egts, no traffic holding me up. Fuel temps hit 170*, coolant hit 232*, air intake temp was 120-130*, egts at 1150*, oil temp was 250*.

I need more cooling capacity in the radiator if I want to pull in these temps as the speeds I want to go.

Get fans on the aux cooler... Or put a scoops on the cooler opening. That can be remove.. I doubt you're using the cooler to it better part of full potential.. Looking at your skid plate... Seams the air flow wouldnt bother turning into the air inlet for the cooler

Fans won't fit. I've thought about a scoop but oil temps are 30-40* cooler than what it use to run without it so it's getting lots of air. It also cools off fast compared to before.
