I really like my MBRP. It has almost a factory style exit.

Oh and on the afe if you thinking stainless I wouldn't spring for it.. It's a cheap stainless and the one I installed a few years ago and then took off recently looked like shit.. The alluminized looks and holds up 10x better.

Thabks for the pics. I like that it starts 5" up front for sure but not sure on the exit. I hadn't planned on running a tip.

Burn down, how far forward does your 5" start?

I'll be in town later, I can swing by my shop and put my truck on the lift for better pics if you'd like

Is the stainless cheap enough that a regular mild steel mig welder setup could weld supports on it you think?

That is all I did. Went down to the shop after work and pulled it in the welding bay. I used .035 hard wire, it welded fine. I just added some flat strap to wrap under the pipe to cradle it and then tied that into the existing round rod they used for a hanger. That first pic I had to fix the top as well.

The 5" starts within 10" of the of the down pipe, next to the trans cooler inlet and outlet fittings IIRC. I'll try to remember to poke my head under it when I get home from work tonight.

Overall its not a bad system... I would add strap to all the hangers before I even put it in the truck.

Thanks for the offer but what you gave is plenty and appreciate it! Not sure if that is what I want or not. They have a different tail pipe section for the LML trucks but I think it points straight back like the OEM tip does.

Mine is only a 4", and I spot welded each union. The hangers are good quality. I'd buy another one in a heart beat. I spend 99% of my time in this truck in mud and dirt, and there is no rust to speak of yet after 2 years. The 5" doesn't flare to 5" till after the cross member.

One thing you could do is make your own front pipe. Most don't do 5" just for clearance issues.

Just to clarify you've got a 5" afe kit and it installs with the 5" pipe that close to the downpipe out of the box? You didn't modify it or anything?

My 5" magnaflow fits and looks just like Corbin's afe setup. Mine is 5" just an inch or two from the downpipe bandclamp. The exit is also roughly the same I like it though because I wanted to point mine downwards a little.

Dam! :banghead:

I bought my FloPro last year advertised as a 5" down pipe back and they utilize the same 4" front pipe as the 4" kit and then go to 5" behind the torsion bar crossmember...

I have the Magnaflow 5" as well. I was surprised how soon it went to 5" right by the trans. I haven't had any trouble with the hangers, and I like the exit (the 90° look bothers me too). I think the hanger problems might stem from the type of roads you drive on. I would take Magnaflow or Flopro over MBRP every time based just on the clamps themselves.

I agree. The magnaflow had band clamps and the mbrp I had previously had u-bolt clamps. I had to cut it apart to get it out. Myagnaflow went together so smooth and has held up just great for aluminized.

Where you live definitely determines how long your exhaust will last no matter the quality.

I had a diamond eye 5" on mine for a while and didn't really like the angle of the exit.

I have a magnaflow tailpipe on it now and am pleased with it.

Maybe Magnaflow is more of what I want.
Just put one in my lbz. Fit great. Utilizes all the factory hangers (even the trans one). Cleared spare tire great. Have had mbrp witch exited great but using the clamps as hangers sucked. Also was a pain to take apart. Was too close to spare.
Diamond sucked. Way to many pieces. Tip was droooppppy. clamps sucked and don't hold.

From my experience with mbrp and my current diamond eye I couldn't agree more. You hit it spot on.
