from diesel drag racing! That is if Competition Diesel (Dodge Board) has their way.

...
8000 lb trucks running between 91 - 104 MPH need a bar. 104 to 123 needs an 8 point, NHRA certified cage. Over 123 and the basic NHRA 8pt cage likely won't cut it.

6000 lb trucks running between 105 and 120 need a bar. 120 to 142 needs aan 8 point, NHRA certified cage. Over 142 and the basic NHRA 8pt cage likely won't cut it.

These idiots are actually contacting the race organizations with this rubbish.

Time to fight these azzholes. They are a menace to our sport, can't drive for shiit, bring dangerous trucks to the track, and want US to be banned????

The guys who are really pushing this don't even race.

It is time to lay the smack down on these pansies. If someone feels unsafe in their truck then they should put a cage in it not force everyone to do it.

Unless someone was seriously hurt crashing a truck that was slower than a 11.49, then I could see NHRA doing something, but how many people have been hurt more than in any car?

Along with the fact, I understand the whole weight/momentum, blah blah blah... But a car that runs 11.49 has alot more speed built up by the 1/8 mile than any truck. This is just stupid thinking.

Nothing will happen rule wise over this, it might scare some people off or some will go the extra mile(in their mind) & cage it. I love how something happens on CompD & all the chicken littles come out. After watching the video this morning, I don't think it was that bad. I thought it was going to be a horrible crash the way everybody was describing it. He should have been able to partially correct it & bounced sideways off of the right lane rail & just ended up with some body damage & a few skidmarks.

How does this ban duramaxes?

You will need a rollbar to run a 105mph or more if they get their way. While they are chastizing folk for commenting on it, they are not refuting it.

While that is a heavily modified Dodge, that's just a good tune-up on a DMax.

Dmaxes are more stable, lower CG, and better handling. They are more stable at 105 than a SFA truck is at 55.

Well, Its not really a ban, theyll need a bar. 105 MPH * 6000+ lbs is dangerous. I can see where your coming from, but safety is safety, and all that energy has to go somewhere if shit goes bad.

I agree completely Pat. I drove my buddy's 2nd gen 2002 Cummins and at 60mph I thought I was going to fly off the road and die; shimmys, play in the steering, wobbling etc... and he had 15,000 miles on the truck.

In my truck I could unbuckle, turn around and grab something in the rear seat at 90mph. (not that I do that, im just saying)

The point is it will kill the sport. Now instead of spending 10,000$ to go 105mph(turbo,tranny, and supporting mods) you will have to spend an additional 5,000-7,500$ just for a cage. I dont know about you but I refuse to cut up my 55,000$ truck to put bars or a cage inside.

Some of us don't even need a turbo :D

I will not put a rollbar in Wendy to run 12's, I need my back seat for 3 kids sometimes. No way to have a legal rollbar and keep the back seat.

I have to double keep the rule book. But, I thought it was 11.49 with street tires.

All the rollbars in the world will not improve the safety if the trucks are out of control to begin with.

I'd rather see "less accidents" than "safer accidents".

45mph is lethal if you hit a tree. Rather than cut down tree, I'd just make the road go around it.
