Plans for my truck have kind of possibly changed...i might be putting it for the most part back to stock.

This is what I am wondering..i have the stock cast 68mm compressor wheel sitting here from when I upgraded my 4094 to the 72mm...since I already have the compressor wheel I want to have my stock turbo machined for the 68mm wheel...are the shafts the same in a stock turbo and a 4094? Or will the 4094 wheel not at all screw onto a stock shaft? Figured if I'm going to put the stock turbo back on i may as well spruce it up a little and this sparked my interest.

If the 4094 wheel will not work, what wheel do people use when they make a 68mm modified stock turbo?

Alright well i guess I could have just checked before asking...i can confirm that the 4094 wheel screws right onto the stock turbo shaft.

Just out of curiosity why are you going back to stock?? I thought you were happy with how the 72 went

He's hit the point of sh?t or get off the pot :D

About sums it up:D

I'm to the point where I've pushed this engine far enough and just don't want to sink money into a built engine. Would rather bring it back down to a lot more reliable level with a built trans, modded stock turbo and some max effort tuning and call it a day.

The plan is to buy a razr and build that.

But yes I do love how the s472 is, have no complaints but I've had my fun with it.

Just called my turbo guy about the machining... $200 to machine it, assemble it and balance it. Trying to decide if it's worth it or not since I won't be modifying the vanes, turbine or anything else. $200 seems alright I guess

Doesn't seem too bad to me. Not sure how much you'll gain but its worth a shot. Never hurts to move more air.

So here is a question...

how much more can this 6 blade 68mm 4094 wheel even flow compared to the stock lly 11 blade wheel?

I was measuring the 2 and comparing the numbers. The blade length from the hub to outer edge are the same on the stock turbo as the 68mm wheel. Basically the 4mm difference in wheel size is from a thicker hub on the 68mm wheel.

Exducer is 6mm larger on the 68mm wheel but considering the stock wheel has 11 full size blades...it would lead me to believe the stock wheel would flow just as much if not more than the 68mm wheel...This is all in theory of course but it sure seems to make sense in my head.

Stock wheel has 11 full size blades and the 4094 68mm wheel has 6 full size blades with an additional 6 shorter "half sized" blades.

so now I'm 2nd guessing spending the 200 bucks to have it converted.

If you have the lly turbo, you could spend a bit more and get the 10-blade gt40 turbine wheel to drop right in with that 68 and basically have the same thing as a stage 2 4094.

But in my experience, using the 66mm Borg wheel on it will net better results than the 68mm Garrett.

Well only reason i want to use this wheel is because i already have it. I won't be spending any extra cash to modify this turbo beyond this 68mm wheel if i even go that route.

This is why I haven't done dual fuelers. My single cp3 is my only hope of keeping the motor alive. I won't shit I'll just sit here.....

Yes fun they are! Only problem is I drive my truck to events to compete. Rolling up to Denver this weekend to run sportsman & hopefully get invited to finals in October. Can't do that without a truck ya know;)
