LB7: Stiff upper radiator hose

mines got a blown hg, i was tired of putting coolant in it everyday so i took the o-rings out of the cap to relieve the pressure and it runs 170-175 on a cool day, 185-190 on a hot day. coolant level has been staying at the very bottom of the bottle. nothing coming out the exhaust, been this way for months. I was going to fix it but had a lot of stuff come up with my wedding so its on the back burner and probably guna stay that way for a while...

Right at the full line, maybe a little over. But now would I need to drive it and let it sit over night again to see if the hose is stiff or not

yes. if coolant was pushed up that high to go out the overflow tube after sitting over night, that means you had a good amount of pressure in there. not good but the fact you have not lost ANY coolant, dont blow coolant out the overflow tube, and there is no white smoke makes me think your just really full in the overflow bottle.

had the same problem with mine for months decided to take a shot an do all new injector cups an reseal them....... haven't had the problem since:thumb:

Well it was at the full line, blew a little bit out. But I never lose coolant. Idk this is a bunch of crap, Idk why they would be blown, I only drive it on weekends and nice days and don't give it that much hell. If they are blown I will lose a lot of respect for duramaxs and be really tempted to get a LS car. Money for a head gasket job is ridiculous

i would bet you lost a cup, not a headgasket.

But wouldn't I have coolant in my oil? Really wish I had a pressure tester so I could test the cap and test the truck when its cold so I could see if it loses pressure

i had no other symptoms other than pressure in the coolant system i would put my money on a cup, when i pulled my injectors out 3 of them came out with the cups stuck to them thats when i knew it was most likely the cause of the problem, merchant has a nice kit everything you need to do the job!

No sir, you would REALLY have to push a cup or have a torn o-ring to have that happen. if it did, you damn well will know there is a BIG problem and it would probably hydro lock that cylinder

Well here's the updated, after the releasing pressure from the cap and having a soft hose, i let the truck idle to operating temperature. Squeezed hose; of course it had some pressure but i was still able to squeeze it a good amount. Drove the truck 4 miles and came back to the garage. Squeezed the hose again, same as before, has pressure but squeezable. Now I think I'll let the truck sit overnight and see if the hose is stiff or soft. Then maybe ill have a sense of direction?

If I was you I would just pull the heads to be sure... All of you LB7 loyalists are nuts for wanting an LB7 lol. LLY > LB7
