Stack or not?

I figured I would seek some opinions from you guys (and gal too, Kat). I have never been a big "fan" of stacks, but with my current exhaust configuration, there is no way I can compete in any sled pulls because there is no way I can have an upward exiting exhaust. Well, yesterday at the NHRDA race I won a raffle for a stack. I ended up with a chrome 6" mitre cut stack (I wanted black, but they didn't have one). So vote in the poll, and let me know your opinion. Keep in mind, there is no chrome anywhere on my truck, just black and dark blue.

but i voted for black
i dont think chrome would look good on your truck, its got that whole midnight look, black stack would compliment it even more

It's cut off right at the hanger behind the axle. There isnt' even enough room to clamp on the rest of the tail pipe I cut off to make it turn up outside the bed.

I agree :thumb: It would suck not to be able to race or sled pull because of an exhaust.

I think you could easily fab up a turn up for pulling/racing if need be. I do like a clean single mitre cut stack on a dmax but I also think its just the style of the moment and not a permanent thing. Keep in mind that when running a stack you will lose bed space, you wont be able to run a tonneau or tool box without fab work and you will smoke out the ass end of your truck and everything else in the bed. If your cool with that then throw it on.

Those are some of the very reasons I am hesitant about a stack. I don't use my bed all the time, but when I do, I don't want to worry about something sliding into it and burning/melting. I also have a short bed which is already limited in bed space. Not to mention the hole in the bed is permanent. I do think the single 6" mitre cut stacks look good, but I also like the no tailpipe look I have right now. It's just those negatives and compromises are making me hesitate. I may have to look into modifying the hanger and see if I can come up with something to clamp on to the tailpipe to get a turn up.

If your hesitant don't do it. Personally I don't like stacks I did it for pulling and I couldn't live with a daily driver with a stack.

Im thinking a clamp and some flex pipe would fix your problem for pulling/racing and could easily be removed. Just need a mount on the side of the bed for the upward and your good.

As it is now, there is not enough room to clamp anything to the pipe. The hanger is right at the end of the pipe.

x2...took me about 5 months but a 10k mile road trip was the last straw
