So this happened...

So i was packing up my tools for the day after a long 11 hour day and i happened to see a good sized nail in my tire. Didnt think much of it said meh ill get it patched tomorrow moring no biggie. Heading home im on the highway and im about 8 miles from home and i start to hear some weird road noise. Look in my blond spot mirror and look at my tire seems fine so i keep going. Noise gets louder and louder so i decided i need to pull this girl over and see whats that noise. And sure enough as soon as i get into the breakdown lane BOOM! Truck falls on its face and smoke is pouring outa the rear end of my truck. Get out to see and saw some carnage.



So what im thinking is that from the nail being in the tire it was slowly letting air out and it got so low that it couldn't hold the weight of my truck anymore and it just gave out. Please tell me im right and i shouldnt worry anout the other 3...

Low pressure do to leak. While rolling the tire builds up more heat than usual causes rubber to fall apart.

No! Suprisingly the wheel is fine! It was rolling on the little bit of outer side wall that was still attached to it, it finally let go at like 30 when i was trying to stop in the breakdown lane.. Im sooooo glad it didnt happen while i was rolling at 70mph

I agree with Chevor the tire being low on air caused it to blow. Damn lucky it didn't go at 70.

I'm curious how that size tire is rated at 3088 lbs, yet a Toyo MT in 33x12.50-20, whish is an inch taller and half inch wider is only rated at 2601 lbs. WTF?!!

I'm like 99% sure they are D because 4 shops refused to mount them on an 8 lug wheel stating they legally can't mount D rated tires on 8 lug wheels.

They are lieing to you. It's company regulated due to the monkey wrench turners tire discounters, discount tires and others are PITA and a bunch of idiots that can't think for themselves in common sense fashion..

I care less about said load range and more about stated weight capacity.. I've seen Ds rated for more than Es..

The 315/70/17 I have are D range and have a 3119lb rating
Hell the 225/70/19.5 F have a 3640lb rating which is less than a 285/75/16 E range that has 3750lb rating

This scares me because ive had plenty of nails in my winter tires that ive left in for weeks and its never cause a blow out like that. Coincidence maybe? Or like stated they are the correct load range
